  • Excellent presenters. Podcast has lots of ads.

The show is excellent, but I find the ads repetitive and excessive. The presenters are incredible, though. They handle serious and light-hearted equally well and are a pleasure to listen to.

  • Good show, poor podcast

Could be much better at updating/uploading podcasts. Very sketchy at times. Kieran Cuddihy & Matt Cooper’s teams are far better at this. Sometimes miss Mary Wilson’s forensic questioning and attention to detail: has become a little fluffy. Bring back the radio column by Olivia O’Leary or Joseph O’Connor or similar. Not the best Drivetime show. Light touch.

  • Should be renamed Cormac and friends

Used to listen to RTÉ regularly for impartial news coverage however I find that lately you favour one side of a debate and try steer listeners to think a certain way. A lot of anger in communities about the huge influx of refugees but listening to RTÉ is like entering an alternative universe the only issue seems to be government not spending tax payers money fast enough to house them. The same with climate change never mention the fact the worlds climate has always changed always trying to scare... more

  • Excellent presenters. Poor podcast.

Ads every 5 minutes is insanity and too hard to listen to. This show is publicly funded yet has 20 to 100 times more ads than podcasts of comparable quality or significance eg Echo Chambers podcast.

WHO chief urges high risk countries to take action as Ebola 'spreading rapidly'

The response centers on improving contact tracing, isolation, and ultimately accelerating vaccine development, while acknowledging political and logistical barriers that complicate implementing standard ring vaccination in the affected regions.
WHO chief urges high risk countries to take action as Ebola 'spreading rapidly'
Q: How concerned are the health authorities in terms of what the WHO is saying? and what fears do they have for the ability to contain this in the DRC?
The guest explains that authorities are deeply concerned and cites past outbreaks to illustrate that while knowledge has improved, practical containment is hindered by the strain's characteristics, regional conflict, distrust, and gaps in vaccines, therapeutics, and rapid testing.
RSA interactive map on road deaths from 2016 – 2024
Q: But tell us, what are we discovering in this big cache of data now? Like what kind of collisions, what kind of injuries?
The dataset reveals a substantial number of injury collisions with clear patterns: a majority in urban areas with higher traffic, but rural roads showing higher fatality and severe injury rates per incident; it also shows time-of-day peaks during busy commutes and a troubling spike overnight, all suggesting where safety interventions could be most impactful.
Older Women disappearing from the big screen
Q: What does the eye-catching statistic say about representation in film and media?
It shows that older women are underrepresented on screen relative to men and that even iconic aging actresses are not reflected in the frequency of roles, suggesting systemic ageism in casting and storytelling.
AI generated child porn sentancing
Q: Can you give us the background to this case?
The investigation began after an international alert flagged suspicious activity on the defendant's phone, leading to a Garda search, discovery of AI-generated material, and subsequent court proceedings where he pleaded guilty to possessing both AI-generated images and anime-style videos.
