  • Excellent presenters. Podcast has lots of ads.

The show is excellent, but I find the ads repetitive and excessive. The presenters are incredible, though. They handle serious and light-hearted equally well and are a pleasure to listen to.

  • Good show, poor podcast

Could be much better at updating/uploading podcasts. Very sketchy at times. Kieran Cuddihy & Matt Cooper’s teams are far better at this. Sometimes miss Mary Wilson’s forensic questioning and attention to detail: has become a little fluffy. Bring back the radio column by Olivia O’Leary or Joseph O’Connor or similar. Not the best Drivetime show. Light touch.

  • Should be renamed Cormac and friends

Used to listen to RTÉ regularly for impartial news coverage however I find that lately you favour one side of a debate and try steer listeners to think a certain way. A lot of anger in communities about the huge influx of refugees but listening to RTÉ is like entering an alternative universe the only issue seems to be government not spending tax payers money fast enough to house them. The same with climate change never mention the fact the worlds climate has always changed always trying to scare... more

  • Excellent presenters. Poor podcast.

Ads every 5 minutes is insanity and too hard to listen to. This show is publicly funded yet has 20 to 100 times more ads than podcasts of comparable quality or significance eg Echo Chambers podcast.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

The life of a trad wife
Q: How do you respond to concerns about young women being influenced to marry early or surrender financial independence?
She argues that feminism is about choice and that women should decide what makes them happy, while acknowledging risk and responsibility. She notes that not every path works for everyone and emphasizes the need for independent resources and personal agency.
The life of a trad wife
Q: What does the term 'tradwife' mean to you, and how did your own life lead you to that view?
Pettitt explains that tradwife arose from her realization that her role at home was complex and central beyond traditional childcare, as she took on the full running of the household and saw a historical pattern where wives managed the home while husbands earned. This shaped her identity as a traditional housewife and her decision to view it as a career.
Another heat warning declared in sweltering summer
Q: What is the prospects of the hosepipe ban being extended beyond August 26th?
Officials indicate extensions are possible and will depend on rainfall, soil moisture, and reservoir conditions, with regional considerations in areas that have seen some recent rainfall.
Opposition parties urge Gov to postpone excise duty plans
Q: Are you satisfied with what you heard from the minister on postponing these plans?
No, and it's absolutely wrong for the government to even consider putting up the price of petrol and diesel given the current high costs, citing government waste and overspending as a driver of the pressure on households.
Government to examine homes at risk of flooding
Q: What exactly are you looking to do for homeowners in flood-prone areas?
The aim is to identify where flood protection is inaccessible to insurance coverage, convene a cross-government working group, and develop concrete, time-bound solutions that enable insurers to provide coverage in specific scenarios, including areas with existing or planned flood defenses.
