  • Great subject but he’s got to let the guest speak

There is a lot of “me too” in this interview. Just ask some open ended questions and let the guest speak. Stop talking over them.

  • Active listening skills

Please don’t step on the artists comments. Seems like you also interrupt what is being said. Work on active listening skills.

Episode 311: Boy Golden
Q: How does Liam view the role of storytelling in music and life?
Liam emphasizes that lives are shaped by the stories we tell about them, and that embracing that storytelling lens helps him craft songs that speak on multiple levels—emotionally through mood and intellectually through metaphor.
Episode 311: Boy Golden
Q: What drew Liam to record Best of Our Possible Lives in Los Angeles, and who were the key collaborators?
The LA connection came from Robbie Lakritz and Pino Palladino's circle, with Pino Palladino and Abe Rounds among the core collaborators, plus Fontine and Gabe Noll contributing. The environment allowed access to top-tier musicians and a production setup that supported the album's philosophical themes.
Episode 311: Boy Golden
Q: How did the Telluride Bluegrass appearance fit into Liam's broader artistic trajectory?
It represents Liam's ongoing love for folk and bluegrass influences and shows his willingness to stretch his live show with improvisation while staying true to storytelling. The festival context also reinforces his standing in the roots scene and his openness to cross-genre exploration.
Episode 310: Cory Wong
Q: What are his thoughts on AI and its impact on music creation and the live experience?
He distinguishes informational AI from generative AI, warns about the risks of machine-generated authenticity, and emphasizes that live, human-centered performance remains irreplaceable; AI may assist but cannot substitute the human element of a show.
Episode 310: Cory Wong
Q: What role do international crowds play in shaping his performances and artistry?
Wong notes that audiences in places like Argentina and Brazil create a shared energy that elevates the performance, making the crowd and band feel like one entity and prompting more adventurous playing.
