  • Bd I just want to say that I love

The only way I could see the difference was to put a new filter in and put the new one on and it would take me a few

  • Fantastic

What a great host Jesse is. I really appreciate his sense of humour and friendliness towards the guests. His questioning is great and I’ve switched from nine to noon to afternoons as a result.

  • Failed comedian

Apparently a tendency towards inane giggling at inappropriate moments must have been the entry qualification on the day some other idiot hired him. Another road mark on Radio NZ National deciding that their target demographic should be the brain dead.

  • Great show

I live in Sweden now but really enjoyed Jesse’s show in NZ. I love the banter, the variety and the legit music geeking that goes on, great to find I can listen to it on demand from the other side of the world!

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

History with Dr Grant Morris: The Archives Building
Q: What advice do you have for listeners who would like to take a tour of the new National Archives?
Listeners are guided to the main entrance at 8 Kinnamoel Grade Street, Wellington, to access a spacious foyer, then up to a meeting area by prior arrangement; the space also provides a sense of the building's scale and storage limitations.
Weekend Stuff: Steps to take before hiring home help
Q: How do you approach hiring a cleaner?
I emphasize checking how long they've been in business, asking for referrals, confirming background checks where possible, and ensuring they have appropriate insurance and a clear hiring process.
Critter of the Week: New Zealand Mudsnail
Q: Nicola, do you have any good news for us about the snail before you rate its attractiveness?
There isn't a simple silver lining, but there is ongoing work in New Zealand to clean up waterways and curb spread, and a sense that awareness and early detection are improving, even if the situation remains challenging.
Caramelised Cauliflower with Yoghurt and Sicilian Caper Raisin
Q: What are some quick substitutes if you're missing an ingredient?
You can swap sultanas for raisins, use maple syrup in place of honey, and if pine nuts aren't available, almonds or peanuts can add a nice crunch without breaking the overall flavor profile.
Caramelised Cauliflower with Yoghurt and Sicilian Caper Raisin
Q: How do you balance the flavors and ensure the raisins don't overpower the dish?
By cooking the raisins gently in a small pan with vinegar, honey, salt, and water to plump them, then whisking in olive oil and capers to create a glossy vinaigrette that's poured over the roasted cauliflower, keeping the raisins as a nuanced accent rather than a dominant component.
