  • Long time fan but.. the sound quality could be improved

The interviews are great and the topics are diverse. But something about the sound quality is subtly grating, sometimes I can’t endure it. It probably isn’t noticeable on radio, and maybe age plays a role too. It sounds like lossy compression has been used and the compression is too aggressive. I love this show and I recommend it, but I can’t give five stars at this time because of the sound quality.

  • Fills the kiwi cup

As a kiwi living in the USA this podcast fills my cup and gives that dose of kiwi news and interviews. Kim is iconic.

My only ask is release the full Saturday morning program in a one episode. (Would be nice to just put on the full episode and catch up instead of selecting each story) cheers

The highs and lows of weather forecasting
Q: How should communities and governments prepare given these uncertainties and long-term changes?
Adaptation planning should be risk-based and multi-generational, considering the lifetime costs of infrastructure and equity in resilience, with emphasis on better planning for co-occurring hazards and sustained investment in data and models.
The highs and lows of weather forecasting
Q: How do forecasting tools differ when looking far ahead versus in the near term?
Climate-scale work focuses on global patterns and long-term trends with models of temperature and ocean dynamics, while near-term forecasts use dynamic physics-based models to predict evolving weather systems with increasing uncertainty the closer you get to the event.
The highs and lows of weather forecasting
Q: What is the difference between weather prediction and weather forecast, and why does the science treat them differently?
Predictions are specific and definitive about location, time, and amount, while forecasts describe a range of possible outcomes with probabilities, acknowledging uncertainty especially for smaller timescales.
Dr Kirsty Sedgman: Audiences behaving badly
Q: What is your pet hate in the cinema or live theatre?
I suffer from misophonia, finding it extremely distracting when others chatter or crunch while watching, but I also recognize the need to balance access for people who require different levels of quiet, so the focus should be on what benefits all audiences.
Julia Grogan: Play Fight
Q: What inspired Playfight and its focus on teenage girls and their relationships?
The Grace Millane case was a catalyst, making me furious and determined to channel those emotions into a story about girlhood, desire, and the realities of growing up in a world with rising violence and exposure to pornography.
