  • Long time fan but.. the sound quality could be improved

The interviews are great and the topics are diverse. But something about the sound quality is subtly grating, sometimes I can’t endure it. It probably isn’t noticeable on radio, and maybe age plays a role too. It sounds like lossy compression has been used and the compression is too aggressive. I love this show and I recommend it, but I can’t give five stars at this time because of the sound quality.

  • Fills the kiwi cup

As a kiwi living in the USA this podcast fills my cup and gives that dose of kiwi news and interviews. Kim is iconic.

My only ask is release the full Saturday morning program in a one episode. (Would be nice to just put on the full episode and catch up instead of selecting each story) cheers

Sam Hogg: The secret to farming success
Q: Your family converted the farm to dairy. Just tell us what the plan was.
The plan was to use dairy as a stepping stone for succession, but later we realized a shift was needed. We developed five- to ten-year visions, which pointed toward organic farming as the way to align our financial viability with our values, leading to a deliberate de-stocking and soil-focused approach.
David Silbersweig: Earworms
Q: Why do some people experience earworms more than others?
Variations in auditory imagery ability, memory coupling, and attentional control, along with neurodivergent factors like OCD tendencies or working-memory strength, can influence susceptibility.
David Silbersweig: Earworms
Q: What exactly is an earworm?
An earworm is a snippet of a song that enters the head involuntarily and plays internally, sometimes recurring, regardless of external input.
Gardening tips with Hannah Zwartz
Q: How should I approach pruning crab apple trees with new autumn foliage?
Treat crab apples like apples and pears: prune out the oldest wood while leaving some new growth; if new leaves appear too soon, prune with care and consider timing based on the plant's growth signals.
Gardening tips with Hannah Zwartz
Q: Is it okay to prune lemons and blackcurrants in winter, and what about borer risks for citrus?
Yes, pruning citrus in winter helps reduce borer risk from pests that attack fresh growth; remove deadwood and inner twiggy growth to keep the plant compact and healthy.
