  • Human Rights from a Leftist Perspective

The episode “Now What” was fairly cringe. I would consider myself kindred spirits with HRW overall. My concern is their bias and where their funding comes from. For example, they take a firm stance against overly aggressive immigration policy, but neglect that loose immigration policy allows human trafficking to flourish. They take a firm stance for women’s rights, but do so at the cost of rights for unborn children. They take a firm stance on LGBTQ rights, but do not report on the unnecessary s... more

  • A needed podcast

One of the most complete podcasts I’ve ever listened to. If it wasn’t for this podcast, I wouldn’t be able to understand more than half of the issues happening in the world right now. Thank you Ngofeen for bringing these stories to life and to light.

  • Amazing!

Season 2’s first episode gives a nuanced and harrowing explanation for how the “country of graves” became the “country of prisoners,” while still keeping an eye toward what can—and should—be done, citing models where crime was reduced without violating civil liberties.

  • Explains complex situations in easy to understand way

I have enjoyed all the episodes I’ve listened to thus far. The latest episode on El Salvador was fascinating- I knew very little about the historical context but it explained it clearly. I was particularly interested to learn how US policies of mass deportation have contributed to El Salvador’s gang problems. It told a sympathetic story that did not gloss over the horrors of the human rights violations, but avoided being sensationalist.
