  • Wonderful humans with thought provoking conversations

One of my favorite podcasts, and I listen to many. I feel I relate to the content a lot, it is an inspiring ‘self-help’ conversation. The guests are always interesting in their own unique way and I leave feeling more confident in myself with feelings often validated. The guests have wildly different backgrounds, career paths and life perspectives and I love that, each episode feels like a new challenge.

My favorite part is actually when Meredith, Bob and Aaron reflect on the conversation and giv... more

I teach a class called Point of View at the School of Visual Arts, focusing on helping students develop their voice and perspective in design.
Episode 45: The art of noticing with Rob Walker
Q: How would you define noticing, and why do you think it's such an essential skill?
Noticing is about directing our attention to the often overlooked aspects of life, allowing us to value what is important to us.
Episode 46: Liz O'Donnell on caring for elderly parents
Q: Liz, could you walk us through to give listeners a sense of your backstory of what happened with your parents and what you've gone through?
Liz shares her journey as a working mother and the challenges she faced when both her parents were diagnosed with serious health issues, leading her to become the primary caregiver.
Episode 43: Family estrangement with Dr Karl Pillemer
Q: What were the patterns that you saw in the causes of estrangement? Is there anything that we can learn from that?
We found that strong value differences, in-law issues, money and inheritance disputes, and violated expectations often led to estrangements. It's not just about abusive relationships; situational factors play a significant role.
Episode 43: Family estrangement with Dr Karl Pillemer
Q: What inspired you to study family estrangement and write this book?
I found that a major regret of very old people was an unresolved estrangement, either with their own parents, with their siblings, and in particular with one of their own children. This emotional turmoil led me to explore the topic further.
