I am writing this review to thank Chris for his incredible pro bono work for those that are struggling. Chris's work in the field is by far the most professional and efficient way to recovery I have witnessed. After receiving both impatiant and outpatiant treatment many times over the last couple of decades, I found his principles to be the best aprouch to true full recovery. As we all need to find our own road, his was the the right one for me. Highly recommend him!!

369: GLP-1s, Weight Stigma, And The New Face Of Diet Culture With Virgie Tovar
Q: What are GLP-1s and how do they work from a basic mechanistic standpoint?
GLP-1s are a synthetic hormone that mimics the body's fullness hormone, signaling the brain to feel full and suppress appetite, which reduces food intake; the weight loss largely results from eating less rather than direct fat loss.
Rebroadcast: Overcoming Complex Trauma, Escaping An Abusive Relationship And Reaching Full Recovery with Victoria Kleinsman
Q: How did she finally recognize that her relationship with food and her environment had shifted enough to pursue true recovery?
A combination of leaving the abusive relationship, moving to a supportive environment, hearing about intuitive eating, and engaging with a recovery coach helped her realize that recovery was possible and worth pursuing.
Rebroadcast: Overcoming Complex Trauma, Escaping An Abusive Relationship And Reaching Full Recovery with Victoria Kleinsman
Q: What did the initial recovery look like, inpatient or outpatient, and what did the process entail?
Her recovery started with outpatient support and aggressive nutritional rehabilitation, including high-calorie weight-gain meals, followed by years of bulimia and laxative abuse before shifting to a holistic recovery approach that integrated psychology, spirituality, and consistent coaching.
361: Extreme Hunger, Neural Rewiring And Taking Bold Steps In Recovery with Emily Spence
Q: What does neural rewiring entail and how does it relate to recovery?
The guest explains neural plasticity, the ongoing ability of the brain to change habits through action and attention, and stresses that recovery involves both nutrition and rewiring thoughts and patterns, with focus on consistent practice.
358: CBT For Eating Disorders, Chronic Pain, Insomnia, Depression, Diabetes and GLP-1’s with Jennifer Averyt
Q: What role does CBT play across the different health concerns you treat?
CBT is adapted to each condition, starting with psychoeducation about symptom development, then addressing behaviors (like regular eating for eating disorders or pacing for chronic pain) and using cognitive strategies only when appropriate. Integration with ACT and values work helps tailor treatment to what matters most to the patient.
