Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

“We call each other superwomen when there’s too much on our plates” With Amy Carmody
Q: What is your best advice for building a community around a service-based business?
Invest in genuine connection; people buy into you as a person and want to feel they are engaging with the same person online and in real life, through events or retreats, which strengthens loyalty and community growth.
“We call each other superwomen when there’s too much on our plates” With Amy Carmody
Q: What changed for you emotionally and practically when you returned to work after your first birth versus the second and third births?
The first birth was chaotic and left me with postnatal anxiety; with subsequent births I prioritized recovery, reduced anxiety by better planning, and allowed myself to adapt the work schedule to motherhood realities, which improved both well-being and productivity.
“We call each other superwomen when there’s too much on our plates” With Amy Carmody
Q: How did you pivot from in-person studios to online platforms during the pandemic, and what was your rollout strategy?
I started with a small library of classes, launched during the early lockdown, and created a weekly schedule so members could plan ahead, which generated ongoing engagement and growth to thousands of classes over time.
“We call each other superwomen when there’s too much on our plates” With Amy Carmody
Q: Amy, before we expand on how you do it all, what's your gut reaction to the comment that many followers say you 'do it all' with three kids?
My gut reaction is that I don't do it all; social media can misrepresent the reality. My husband is hands-on, which helps me do more than a typical mom could, and I rely on a strong support system to manage both career and family.
Dear Ready or Not: Is it normal to feel bored on maternity leave?
Q: Is it wrong that I'm bored on maternity leave?
No, boredom is a normal part of adapting to a new routine; many find ways to cope through side projects, socializing, or shifts in daily routine, and it's okay to acknowledge this while still loving your child.
