  • Top notch

Thoughtful conversations about betting with great guests. This sport has a lot of podcasts but very few that approach the game with intellect. Sport of Kings is an exception!

Love the pod and every guest other than Gino Buccola…please no more Gino - he’s completely toxic and divisive!

  • Oops

The Turfway Park show with Kaitlyn, the pick four is race 7-10, not 6-9. Not a great look.

  • Farewell

I’ve been listening to you, Scott and Chris, for a very long time, and it’s truly sad to hear that you’ll no longer be doing the podcast. You’ve both been fantastic — this has been the only horse racing podcast I’ve followed, and your guests were always top-notch. You two will be greatly missed. Wishing you both the very best of luck and every success in whatever comes next.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

E372 G2 Jim Dandy, G1 Arlington Million, and other stakes from Sar and CNL on 8/1/26 – Analysis and Betting Discussion
Q: How does your model tell you what to bet versus just giving opinions?
The model provides fair odds and win percentages for each horse, which the hosts use to decide value bets and hedging strategies; bets are still executed by the person, not automatically by the model.
E369 Saratoga races on 7/11/26 – Analysis and Betting Discussion
Q: How do you structure your bets across the sequence to avoid overexposing yourself to favorites?
I try not to line up the favorites in every leg; I'll single a price horse when the price makes sense, otherwise I spread on the other contenders to build a caveman-style ticket that captures upside while protecting against chalk-heavy outcomes.
E369 Saratoga races on 7/11/26 – Analysis and Betting Discussion
Q: What are your initial thoughts on the favorite in the Saratoga race seven and how you would approach it?
The horse has the right connections and a strong form, but the layoff and route setup make him vulnerable to a few other contenders who can threaten if the pace develops a certain way; I'd focus on pace and who can close the gap if they go faster early, while keeping an eye on value horses with upside.
E364 The Belmont Stakes at Saratoga on 6/6/26 – Analysis AND Betting Discussion
Q: Which races do you see as the strongest value opportunities and why?
The Woody Stephens and the Belmont Stakes sequence are prime, with emphasis on price-driven bets like doubles and exactas that can capture value from thoughtful price trades, particularly where pace makes the race more open.
E364 The Belmont Stakes at Saratoga on 6/6/26 – Analysis AND Betting Discussion
Q: What is your overall betting approach on a day like this with multiple Grade 1 races on the card?
The focus is on value and selective sequencing; identify horses with upside at a price, especially where pace and trips create exploitable outcomes, and construct bets that leverage price breaks rather than chase short-priced favorites.
