  • Great podcast

Very interesting - great guests, insightful questioning and none of the nonsense of a panel discussion.

  • From the woman who knows...

What a cracking start for Susan Freeman to have Brendan Wallace of Fifth Wall as her first guest. For anyone in #PropTech, and really for anyone in Property, this is a must listen.

Susan of course is the woman who knows everyone in property. But she also, as a Partner at Mishcon de Reya, knows a very great deal about property itself and the entire machinations if the industry. So she’s an insightful interviewer and excellent host.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Ian Rickwood
Q: So how do people come to Henley when they have a deal or opportunity?
The team looks for opportunities with a clear size of prize and manageable executional risk, focusing on the entrepreneur's character and fit; Henley acts as a plug‑in to complete the missing pieces of a strong opportunity, rather than needing a fully formed, finished article.
Sherin Aminossehe
Q: Why in 2017 did you decide to lead again in the Civil Service and move back from the private sector?
Sherin explains she sought delivery and a broader, multi-dimensional impact beyond private sector projects, ultimately returning to government where scale, social value, and public policy intersect with property and regeneration.
Arthur Kay
Q: What startup advice would you give to young entrepreneurs entering the built environment?
Lead with the economic impact and clearly define your customer, delivering a value proposition that makes their life materially better, while also pursuing social and environmental benefits.
Arthur Kay
Q: What motivated the Roadkill book, and what are the key messages?
The book links car dependency to urban quality of life, highlighting how deaths, emissions, and social costs are intertwined with car-centric design, arguing for a narrative that ties transport to broader social and economic outcomes.
Arthur Kay
Q: Why did Skyroom pursue the idea of building in the airspace above existing buildings, and why did it fold?
The concept aimed at densifying cities without expanding footprint, but after Building Safety Act changes and regulatory thresholds, the economics no longer supported long-term viability at the scale intended.
