Dr. Camiel's episodes really have something for everyone. From a relatively inexperienced herbalist as myself, to someone who has been practicing the subject for decades, Dr. Camiel proves there is always something new we can learn. With such a wide array of topics and insightful guests this podcast is one I will continue to follow w... more

  • Love the podcast

I listened to a couple of different podcasts for my herbal class and it was amazing! Learned so much from it!

Got to learn about several herbalists and their scope of practice, different types of plants and what they are useful for. Also got to learn about so cool herbalism books and shops.

    Looking forward to future podcasts!

The Modern Herbal Dispensatory: Medicine Making with Thomas Easley (Episode 82)
Q: What is the role of nutrition and functional medicine in your approach to herbal medicine?
Nutrition and functional medicine are foundational to my practice; I assess and optimize nutritional status, sleep, movement, and nervous system function as building blocks for herbal interventions. This integrated approach supports healing beyond herbs alone and informs which medicines to introduce or adjust.
The Modern Herbal Dispensatory: Medicine Making with Thomas Easley (Episode 82)
Q: Can you share a few dosage forms that beginners can start with to become confident medicine makers, and how these help clinicians in practice?
Start with the basics: tea and decoctions, tinctures in booze, and simple electuaries. As confidence grows, explore percolations and glycerites, then move toward more advanced extractions like Soxhlet with careful equipment. These basics provide tangible results that reinforce learning and clinical effectiveness, while scalable methods allow you to tailor potency and dosing for patients.
