Great conversation with Brad Lidge. He was appropriately on the mound for the last pitch of 2008, tip of the cap Brad. I especially enjoyed hearing about his archeology career. Thanks Scott for the great job you do fleshing out the people you talk to. It’s nice to gain an extra dimension on those in the sport. High Hopes for our Phillies!

Joe Maddon Returns
Q: Is Justin Crawford in contention for rookie of the year?
The host explains that Crawford is having a solid rookie season and is fulfilling his role, but the rookie class is very strong overall, making it unlikely Crawford will win rookie of the year this early in the season.
Rhys Hoskins
Q: So my question is, is it old hat to come back now? Or do you just kind of reflexively walk by the home clubhouse on your way to the visiting side?
Hoskins described the special, almost nostalgic pull of returning to Philly, while acknowledging the realities of not being able to return to that exact role; he emphasized the uniqueness of facing former teammates and the lingering connection to the city.
Terry Francona
Q: How has health and personal well-being influenced your approach to managing?
Francona discusses his hamstring surgery, the importance of low-stress workouts, and how personal health informs a more sustainable approach to managing a demanding season.
Terry Francona
Q: What stands out about the current rotation and young pitchers?
Francona highlights the need for consistency and managing expectations for young pitchers like Elie De La Cruz's impact within a rotation, while noting the importance of learning from experience and making adjustments as the season unfolds.
Terry Francona
Q: How do you view the difference in managing in Boston and Philadelphia compared to today?
He explains the overwhelming and constant fan and media attention in those markets, the pressure on managers, and the need to balance multiple inputs while trying to keep the team focused on playing baseball.
