  • Great guests (please let them talk)

Enjoy the show, fantastic guests but the host needs to allow them to contribute more to the discussion. Oftentimes the host dominates. Go back and listen to a few episodes and compare host speaking time vs. guest, you’ll see what I mean. I understand the passion but as someone well versed in the energy space I would prefer less of a description of what is happening in China, and more from the guest on negotiations between purchasers and LNG exporters. Or difficulties in getting projects off the ... more

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Power, AI, Nat Gas, and Venezuela
Q: How will AI and data-center demand influence natural gas usage and LNG export strategies in the near term?
AI-driven demand could drive substantial load growth (tens of thousands of megawatts), but the scale of investment required (hundreds of billions annually) and the need for stable gas supply at predictable prices are critical to making LNG and gas-backed power viable.
Power, AI, Nat Gas, and Venezuela
Q: What is the state of the oil market given current geopolitical tensions, and how should investors think about the balance between supply and demand?
While headlines point to risk, the panel suggests a robust supply base in the US and persistent demand growth from LNG and power generation, with a belief that prices should reflect geopolitical risk but are tempered by high production and significant on-water barrels.
State of Energy: War, Risk, and Geopolitics
Q: What is the dominant risk for energy markets this year?
Oil prices are structurally misunderstood; even with geopolitical tensions, markets often misprice risk, and the industry should hedge and communicate the true long‑term energy story, including the role of US shale and coal in providing affordable, reliable power.
Russia, Risk, and Oil Prices
Q: What is the biggest risk that upstream producers have in the next three to five years outside of price volatility?
The biggest risk is not understanding current price dynamics and missing opportunities to hedge or invest when conditions are favorable.
Russia, Risk, and Oil Prices
Q: What should the US be doing differently to compete better with China?
The US needs to deregulate the energy sector, improve infrastructure for energy supply, and recognize the geopolitical dimension of energy security in its policies.
