Pencil Kings is a great podcast that truly makes you inspired to create while listening. Episode 214 about “Flipping the Switch” was especially relatable to me recently. The interviews and conversations help motivate me through the grind of comics. Love the podcast. If your making comics and lack confidence in any way it is a must listen.
This is not a podcast about art (well, not only a podcast about art). It’s a podcast about creativity in all its forms. As a writer, I’ve keep returning to this for all kinds of lessons to apply to my own creative life.
Most art podcasts I’ve run into so far mean well and give it the old college try, but don’t translate very well to the “listening” format for a couple of primary reasons ...
First, nothing -to me- is more boring than what I call “neutral” or “safe” art discussion, i. e., all of our time is valuable, especially today with so much coming at us from 14 directions, yet we see artists or hosts talking about a subject without the primary objective being to roll up our sleeves and dissect it at its co... more
I enjoyed this podcast and the motivation behind this topic. Liron is a breath of fresh air as far as art instructors on internet. His love of sharing teaches as he goes, mistakes or not! I hope his new goal (painting more for himself instead of for us) doesn’t preclude his interest in painting instructions for us. I find his approach very refreshing — opposite of some of the established Watercolor artists. He is not afraid to paint live, and his depth of instructions make him believable. He ... more
I’m so happy Mitch is back. Great interviews, valuable information, boat loads of inspiration.
Love this podcast already! I’m binge listening to episodes now and it’s giving me the boost I have been needing. I felt really stuck and now I have ideas and confidence to push forward.
This is the podcast that helps me get unstuck and reminds me why I create. So good!
I've been listening to the podcast for years - so I'm long overdue to write a review. Pencil Kings is a great resource for creatives - very information and inspiring! I always learn something. Thanks for the great show!
I love pencil kings. i was a bit disappointed to see a cast with Willowing. This takes us to what should be a podcast about honesty. If you take a class from someone and then copy their class style everything and make a career out of ir you should give them proper credit for stealing their career i would think. the horrific problem in the mixed media world with all of the teachers and online classes is they are all mostly knock offs of eachother. This style os mixed media started with Suzi Blu. ... more
I’m a fan of this show if has great content on drawing, illustration, comics etc. my only beef are the long weird pauses where the interview stops and you hear synthesizer music for a minute or more.
I have been listening to the Pencil Kings podcast for almost two years now and this review is long overdue. I always look out for the latest episode, and there’s always lots to learn from each one! I think this is one of the best Artist podcasts out there. Valuable information, professional guests, and Mitch is a great host asking lots of important questions.
Well worth subscribing and listening to!
