Each episode, host Tamar Avishai picks a painting du jour, interviews unsuspecting museum visitors in front of it, and then dives deeply into the object, the movement, the social context, and anything and everything else that will make it as neat to you as it is to her. Please stop with the people giving their opinion/ bad description of the painting in the bginning of the podcast! (I know, ironic that I am giving my opinion but hey...) I think everyone here googles the painting before the episode. I can't fast forward fast enough but sometimes this segment goes on WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY too LONG!
Also, there is no exploration of how the painting was made or the artist's working methods : oil on canvas, painted from models, ...etc.

Absolutely terrific podcast, with great presentation of facts and unexpected connections of art and life! I love it!
This is one of the most beautifully curated podcasts I’ve ever heard. Each episode is layered and fascinating, always offering so much more than an analysis of a work. Tamar’s reflections are not just scrupulously researched, they are soulful and generous and deeply humane. TLP is a gift.
I'm revisiting my review as I re-listen my favorite art history podcast, ever. Still feel the same!!! While listening, it's like seeing with your ears! You will experience works of art at a depth previously reserved for those with a fine arts degree. Quite a lot of fun, with wisdom inspired by or gleaned from the artist and works discussed ... the wisdom will sneak up on you at any moment! And what a voice! I could listen to this all day ... and have, many times.
You will get addicted to this amazing art history podcast. It’s always impeccably researched, written and produced. Binge worthy.
