  • Fascinating

I’m not the target audience but I was completely absorbed in this first episode. Rob asked all the questions I wanted answered and Wes answered them with helpful information about his life, and also great gospel truths and encouragement for being bold with the gospel myself. Can’t wait for the next episode.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

I Thought I Was a Christian (encore)
Q: How did the change in perceived faith among members affect your approach to pastoral care?
It made me more cautious and diagnostic, forcing me to evaluate the genuineness of conversion and to emphasize the fruit of faith, especially love for the brethren, as evidence of true salvation.
Customizing the Gospel (encore)
Q: How did you handle the personal and family demands of full-time church planting?
We aligned work to allow both spouses to be fully committed; the team prioritized a 24/7 focus on the church, with a family routine that allowed ministry and home life to coexist.
Customizing the Gospel (encore)
Q: How did you balance expository preaching with the realities of starting a church in a challenging environment?
We aimed to preach through books verse by verse while not shying away from necessary topical sermons; the key was faithful representation of the text and avoiding proofs of cherry-picking to fit a trend.
Customizing the Gospel (encore)
Q: What was the core idea you wanted to test in a place like New England?
To present the historic gospel as the curriculum and the main agenda, trusting that when God works through faithful, expository preaching and personalized shepherding, people can be drawn to Christ even in a culture that is largely resistant.
Eternal Rewards
Q: Based on what we do on earth, does the Bible suggest there are different rewards in heaven? And does it indicate varying degrees of punishment in hell?
The Bible appears to indicate gradations in both heaven and hell, aligning with intuitive notions of justice. While not all details are explicit, there are Scriptural hints and church tradition that support different levels of reward for faithful service and, correspondingly, different levels of judgment.
