  • Uniquely Encouraging

This, more than any other podcast in my queue, has caused me to press pause, grab my Bible, and make a note beside a Scripture passage where Matt or Lig gave some fresh insight or pointed application. These brothers are humble, biblical, and wise. And the spectrum covered—age, experience, denominational background—works incredibly well precisely because of that humility and wisdom. Bravo, fellas.

  • My favorite podcast

As a church planter/pastors wife, I find this podcast so encouraging, instructive and challenging. I’ve shared it with all of our elders, deacons and anyone I think will listen. It’s also helped me as I lead women’s ministry at our church.

Prepare People for Church Discipline
Q: How can pastors ensure that the offended party is supported during a case of discipline?
Pastors should prioritize supporting the offended party by ensuring they have a supportive network, regular check-ins, and clear communication throughout the disciplinary process.
Prepare People for Church Discipline
Q: Ligon, why is this a conversation worth having? What is church discipline?
It is significant because church discipline helps maintain accountability and purity within the church, which is essential for the spiritual health of the congregation.
BONUS: Advice for Apologetics (with Wes Huff)
Q: What advice would you want to give to pastors about engaging with apologetic questions?
Pastors should ensure that their motivation for apologetics stems from a humble desire to proclaim biblical truth rather than seeking to rationalize scripture to fit cultural norms.
Funerals
Q: What advice do you have for navigating potential disputes in decisions about how a funeral service is run?
It's important to face the reality of death openly rather than using euphemisms, addressing the situation head-on to avoid denial and ensure everyone is on the same page about the finality of death.
Funerals
Q: How should young pastors and small church pastors make themselves available in the community to do funerals for people who don't have a church?
They should consider it a privilege as a great gospel opportunity when called upon by major funeral homes, especially for those who have no pastor connection.
