  • Addictive

I’m a digital evidence analyst and I find myself listening to every episode because they actually analyze— pick the cases apart and describe how to go beyond commercial tools and find evidence. Great show. Recommended.

  • Obsessed with this podcast!

I love the deep dives into the FACTS and Becky and Stacy’s unique viewpoints as forensic investigators. It’s been a while since I have listened to the true crime genre - mostly because it can be really depressing - but the hosts do such a good job of presenting cases in such a way I can get “scratch the itch” without getting anxiety like I sometimes can… really great job, ladies!

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Karen Read 1-3: Jessica Hyde Testimony Part 2
Q: What is the main risk when interpreting BrowserState.db timestamps in court?
The timestamps often reflect tab movements or UI events rather than actual search times, so assuming they mark when a search occurred can be misleading without corroborating evidence from related files.
Digital Crumbs: Finding the final crumb to find Ricky Saxton's Murderer
Q: What happens next after the videos were recovered?
Wayne describes the elation of recovering evidence and how he had to coordinate with other investigators to analyze the footage.
Digital Crumbs: Finding the final crumb to find Ricky Saxton's Murderer
Q: Wayne, can you explain how this type of device complicated the investigation?
Burner phones are not necessarily tied to one individual person, complicating lead tracking in investigations.
12 Days of DFIR
Q: What are some key artifacts that every investigator should know?
Investigators should be familiar with artifacts like MFT, shellbag entries, prefetch data, browser histories, and various logs for thorough digital investigations.
Mushroom Murders Part 4
Q: Could you share with us your involvement in the case, such as, when did you get hired?
I was initially given four and a half years of cold data records, and I focused on cellular network records rather than web browser history.
