One of my fave podcasts! Currently listening to the episode where someone wrote in feeling resentful of their partner who made a comment about their credit score, when they contribute more financially to the relationship. Led to a great conversation around money in relationships and how traditional gender roles are shifting, and how challenging it is to navigate that. I think they handled this discussion so well, as always! This is one of my comfort pods and I also feel like I learn a ton. Congr... more
Responding to Jordana’s initial reaction to this listener’s issue (“they’re just trying to compliment you”). I’m so glad Dr. Naomi validated the listener’s response and spoke to the nuance of being childless amongst so many women who have kids. Saying, “it must be nice…” is passive aggressive and about as complimentary as telling someone they’re too skinny. This situation really highlighted Dr. Naomi’s professionalism and the experience she brings to the show. I do think it’s odd that they rate ... more
Dr. Naomi just said that if you’re single and happy, you’re lying to yourself because you’re biologically tuned to feel safe in a relationship. This woman has a platform to talk about being single when she’s been married for over 15 years. This show is far too much of privileged white women who don’t have real problems whining.
I highly disagree with Jordana saying that the guy letting his neighbor know not to use trash bags is “crazy.” He absolutely should have asked before putting his recyclables in their container. That’s correct, but it sounds like he was letting a fellow neighbor know how the recycling works. Was it annoying? Yes. Was he doing something absolutely crazy? No.
Original review (4 stars): The regularity with which the hosts dismiss financial anxieties as small is so frustrating. You can’t affirm and meditate away not making enough money.
Otherwise, this a pretty good pod! I use things I learn in this pod all the time to supplement (not replace) actual therapy.
Updated review: While I still think this podcast has some useful advice, I think I’m done with it.
I’ve gotten to a point where Jordana and Dr. Naomi just grate on me too much. Aside from my ... more
