The first episode was good and I was looking forward to hearing them all, the problem arose on episode 2. I understand the need for sponsors but when I heard Trump shilling his merch I admit I was unpleasantly surprised. No one is more hateful or hurtful to the whole of immigration than he is. So to hear him trying to push his crappy merchandise is a big no from me.
I’m enjoying this podcast and learning a few things that I appreciate. It would be helpful if the hosts provided accurate context to what they’re sharing. For instance, in talking about her grandfather working in the fields of CA under the government program for $60/week & she’s horrified. But $60/week back then (1960) equates to $616/week in 2023. And they were provided housing, yes barracks style but they didn’t have much for expenses and there were no taxes taken out of their wages.
Excellent storytelling and history telling. I was moved and I learned a lot and remembered a lot. It is so true that this history is in the shadows and it is so good to have this podcast bring it out in the open.
It is difficult to feel bad or feel sorry for anything bad that happened to these people who snuck into the United States illegally.
If you get caught sneaking into other countries there is far greater punishment.
Our laws are too lenient and this is why people still sneak in now.
This season 1 just enrages me.
Jesus Christ patty’s voice is unbearable. How can anyone listen to that?
