  • Good information

I understand it’s put on by the farm bureau and I find that information interesting since it is a large aspect of our state’s economy and lifestyle. However, I wish there were more episodes on more diverse issues the state is facing even if not specifically an agriculture issue. I loved the interviews of candidates during election season.

  • What a joke!

It’s ironic that the show is titled Town Hall because Senator Ron Portman does not hold town halls with constituents! He only holds fundraising events and photo ops. He does nothing for Ohioans but talk which is not helpful. Rob needs to go!

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Sealing the Road to More Ohio Soybean Demand
Q: What was the application process for the grant program and who was eligible?
The process was a straightforward application and review period conducted by the demand committee, with farmer growers on the committee narrowing down to the top two townships or counties to award the grant, ensuring a fair, community-focused selection.
Navigating Farm Data and Rural Roads Safely
Q: You and I talk a lot about risk management. What are the key safety initiatives Nationwide is involved in to improve rural road safety?
Nationwide promotes Drive the Five—distraction-free driving, rested and aware, not under the influence, vehicle maintenance, and an awareness of driving environment—plus ongoing guidance on planning routes and using safety equipment.
Navigating Farm Data and Rural Roads Safely
Q: A survey also looked at unsafe driving habits. What exactly are those habits and what do trends tell us in that space?
Distractions and fatigue are key issues, with a notable share of deaths occurring among people not wearing seat belts, underscoring the importance of attention, restraint, and planning to reduce risk on rural roads.
Navigating Farm Data and Rural Roads Safely
Q: So data, it's a double-edged sword, right? What kinds of decisions on the farm are being made now with the use of data?
Data informs seeding and fertility decisions, drainage and conservation practices, and broader financial and risk management choices, enabling more efficient operations and better cost control while guiding strategic interventions.
Risk Coverage and Trade Outlook
Q: What should listeners know about the transition process if they're considering switching insurance providers?
Listeners should know that Nationwide distributes through independent agents who have deep commercial agribusiness expertise, and that a selective, knowledgeable broker network is intentional to ensure coverage matches each risk; partnerships and proper risk management are key to optimized terms.
