  • Very important podcast to listen to, especially if you are concerned for the future of our world's climate, as well as the escalating environmental disasters that have been occurring due to climate change. This podcast also gives very enlightening perspectives on confronting climate change, such as defending the defenders (pro-climate activists), how the way we see climate change affects the way we confront it, and the concept of having a regenerative mindset.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Games that Help Us Reconnect with Nature & Our Sense and Wonder & Play with C. THI NGUYEN
Q: What is value capture, and why is it a problem?
Value capture occurs when external metrics or institutional rankings supplant or distort our internal values, guiding behavior in ways that prioritize the score over meaning; it can permeate education, science, religion, and everyday life, diminishing authentic engagement and creativity.
Games that Help Us Reconnect with Nature & Our Sense and Wonder & Play with C. THI NGUYEN
Q: How do we maintain spontaneity, play, and freedom despite the social structures, institutions, and scoring systems that shape our lives?
Nguyen argues that play and the creative process have intrinsic value beyond measurable outputs; we should cultivate environments that honor process, balance structure with openness, and resist letting external metrics fully redefine our values.
Animals & The Healing Power of Music
Q: What do you think is needed to improve how humans treat animals?
We need to be more transparent about animal exploitation and educate young people about it, as many don't realize what they're participating in.
Animals & The Healing Power of Music
Q: What has being around animals taught you about freedom?
Animals display a quieter, more peaceful existence, free from the stresses we impose upon ourselves, which has led me to reflect on the nature of freedom in human life.
Animals & The Healing Power of Music
Q: How has this more recent connection to performing music changed your appreciation of the earth?
It completely changed my perception of animals, leading to my transition to vegetarianism after a first meeting with cows, and later to veganism as I learned more about animal welfare.
