  • Very important podcast to listen to, especially if you are concerned for the future of our world's climate, as well as the escalating environmental disasters that have been occurring due to climate change. This podcast also gives very enlightening perspectives on confronting climate change, such as defending the defenders (pro-climate activists), how the way we see climate change affects the way we confront it, and the concept of having a regenerative mindset.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

The Arrogant Ape: The Myth of Human Exceptionalism & Why it Matters with CHRISTINE WEBB
Q: Could you talk about the cascading effect of human exceptionalism on our understanding of intelligence?
When we use human capabilities as the benchmark for intelligence or superiority, we miss out on unique adaptations of other forms of life, which can perform equivalent functions in different ways.
The Arrogant Ape: The Myth of Human Exceptionalism & Why it Matters with CHRISTINE WEBB
Q: How can we even dream of addressing the question of human exceptionalism when we can't even seem to treat each other well?
These issues are not as separate as we have been taught; the way people understand human-animal differences relates to how they perceive differences within human groups.
The Arrogant Ape: The Myth of Human Exceptionalism & Why it Matters with CHRISTINE WEBB
Q: Could you tell us a little bit about how you set out to write this book in the first place?
The book grew out of a course that I taught for many years at Harvard, witnessing how engaging with these ideas transformed my students' experiences with the more-than-human world.
Hayek’s Bastards: Race, Gold, IQ & the Capitalism of the Far Right with QUINN SLOBODIAN
Q: Did you envision Hayek's Bastards already in the earlier books?
The genesis was roughly simultaneous to what became Crack-Up Capitalism, prompted by events like the 2016 election and the Charlottesville rally.
SOS: Save Our Soils: How regenerative food & farming will save your health & the planet w/ LOUIS DE JAEGER
Q: What can be done to integrate more regenerative practices into conventional agriculture?
Educating farmers on the profitability of regenerative methods through reduced inputs like pesticides and fertilizers can help shift practices.
