  • A useful—and improving—resource for staying up to date on Iowa politics.

I have been a regular listener for years now. At the outset, I think it’s important to note that the podcast was improved substantially by adding Althea Cole to the regular panel. Although the panel still has a definite leftward tilt (a point I don’t expect they would dispute), adding even one conservative voice has been a net positive.

As things now stand, I have only two critiques. First, the podcast still does a fair bit of navel-gazing. Some of that is unavoidable, given the personalit... more

  • Clueless

I really want to like this show, but these people know nothing it always seems. Every prediction they make is absolutely ridiculous. Obviously I would expect a left wing bias, but they are so blinded they can’t seem to accurately comprehend the mind of the Iowa GOP. This means they are clueless when discussing Iowa’s politics.

Knowledgeable people who discuss Iowa politics but I wish they’d just be honest that they have a liberal perspective. They essentially criticize everything the republicans do in Des Moines. That is their right but they should just make that clear so people don’t assume they are impartial

  • Journalists matter

I started listening to this podcast when I knew I was moving to Iowa—have been here in the Cedar Valley since July 1 2022 and now I try to always listen for a recap on the week in Iowa politics. I’m tired of the labels of “liberal” and “conservative” which no longer have any meaning. If a listener doesn’t like a report they just call it the other label. Journalists report news. Sometimes we might not like it. This panel frames opinions in a responsible way that includes historical reference. W... more
