  • Disappointing

Callan’s Kicks is wonderful. I even like Oliver on Radio 4 but this show has no structure or substance and that’s not part of it’s charm. It meanders but not in a good way. Either fix it or remove it. Oliver has a lot of talent but not on this show.

Q: What goes on in an adult's life when ADHD is present and how did you decide to seek diagnosis?
The host and guests discuss ongoing daily challenges, masking tendencies, and the relief and clarity that comes with diagnosis, enabling better strategies and less self-criticism.
Ailish McCarthy - The comedian who took on the Arts Council
Q: What happened next as the bill progressed and what breakthroughs occurred?
The bill gained support from both government and opposition, with key figures like Brian Brennan and Minister Patrick O'Donovan backing it; later developments included Creative Ireland funding including comedy, and Arts Council Ireland starting to review applications from comedians, signaling a permanent inclusion of comedy as an art form.
Ailish McCarthy - The comedian who took on the Arts Council
Q: How did you end up fronting this campaign and why did you pursue it?
I gathered from colleagues that comedians were being excluded from Arts Council funding, learned that the Arts Act already recognized performance arts but not comedy, and decided to campaign for a formal inclusion so comedians could access funding and residencies on merit, with a broader goal of equity in the arts.
