  • Irritating, meandering nonsense. Not even amusing.

Do they ever talk about the advertised subject? With less than 20 minutes left they were still talking about anything but, amid a sea of ads including endless ads for their Patreon. Utterly tiresome.

  • Genuinely funny

It’s informative too. The combination makes for a great time every week. Perfect combination of personalities.

And yes, you are the opposite of the manosphere. Funny, self-deprecating and clever. It could be the custard. They could never.

  • Mental amount of adverts

Love the podcast but f me there are a lot of adverts + breaks + promotions. Just make it a 1 hour pod.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

#180 A History of Female Pleasure with Dr Kate Lister (Part 2)
Q: How did the Victorian era contribute to the view that women don't enjoy sex?
The hosts explain that medical texts of the time framed female sexuality as weak or non-existent, reinforcing the idea that women were passive and/or asexual, which persisted into later eras and influenced medical practices and social norms.
#180 A History of Female Pleasure with Dr Kate Lister (Part 1)
Q: If I gave you the option to go anywhere in history for a single day, where would you go and why?
Kate would choose Sarajevo on June 28, 1914, to try to stop the Archduke's assassination and thereby potentially alter the course of history, illustrating how small interventions can have outsized historical impact.
#173 Australia and crucially, who discovered it?! (Part 2)
Q: Who discovered Australia?
The hosts discuss Cook as a chartographer but stress that Indigenous peoples were there long before Europeans, and that Southeast Asian mariners and traders contributed to the knowledge of Australia long before formal European discovery.
#100 Devon with Josh Widdicombe (Part 2)
Q: What is the most interesting thing you've learned?
The most interesting takeaway for me will be Dartington Hall, as I go past it often and can drop it into conversation.
#131 Alexander the Great (Part 2)
Q: How did Alexander's education influence his later life?
His strong educational background instilled a thirst for knowledge and became a crucial factor in his success as a military leader.
