全く０から自然農法を始めた僕の30代は本当にいろんな困難と学びの連続でした。自然栽培の農家としての農作業と会社の経営、４人の子供が次々に生まれる中で、大変な思いも何度もしてきました。その度ごとに、どうしたらこれを「楽しくやる」という心を保ち続けることができるかを問いながら、自分自身の心のあり方や考え方を大胆に変え続けてきました。０から新しいものごとを始めるときには、自分が楽しいと思うことを楽しくやることが一番大切だと思っていたからです。
「ぼーっとした時間を作るために、仕事を瞬足で終わらせる」
生前父と仕事のやり方を話していた時に、教えてもらった唯一の仕事術です。その時は、ぼーっとした時間の尊さをわかっていなかったんですが、就農して起業して、ぼーっとした時間を過ごす大切さがわかってきました。
働く時間ももちろん大事ですが、自分の心の声を聴く何もない時間が大事だと僕は思っています。働く時間は自分のやり方を磨く時間。休む時間は自分のあり方を洗練させる時間。生活費を稼ぐためだけの仕事にならないように、誰かの言いなりになってしまう生き方にならないように、自分の生きる軸を作っていく期間と時間が人生には必要ではないかと思っています。
自分は自分で起こることは起こること。コントロールできることとコントロールできないことを見定めることができるようになってから、随分と心の安定感が増したような気がします。起きてしまったことに後悔はせずに、学ぶだけ学んで、感情ごと捨てる"技術"。見えない技術が自然栽培の農家という環境や自然に左右されやすく、難しい仕事をしていると自然に身に付いていくように感じます。
自分が「どうやって成功するか」ということよりも、相手が「どうやったら喜んでもらえるか」、「嬉しいと思ってもらえるか」を考えることで、僕らが相手に幸運を運んであげられる人になれると気づきました。今までのささやかな経験から、幸運を運べる人の条件を考えてみました。
父が人生の最後に見せてくれた、自分が楽しむことで家族を喜ばせるあり方。自分がワクワクすることで、家族が喜ぶことを自分の仕事にし続けられるようにこれからも考え続けるつもりです。
福祉事業所との共同作業は、僕らにとっても大きな学びの機会になりました。それまでは、お茶をいかに効率的に作るかということを一番に考えていましたが、お茶作りの作業を通して、皆の人生をいかに豊かにしていけるのかということも考えられるようになってきました。僕らの人生はきっと、いかに効率的に成功するかだけではなくきっと、望んでもなれないかもしれない成功者にを目指すだけではなくて、目の前の人に笑顔になってほしいという思いで働いていくことで豊かになると思っています。
