  • Great Info

I was first certified as a USPSA RO in the early ‘90s. Quit the sport for about 30 years and have recently started back. This podcast is great to get the feel of the rules.

  • Totally clueless

After numerous asinine rule changes (who could have possibly seen brass flashlights coming? Everyone. Everyone did), these boomers justify it by saying the entire BOD voted for them. So that just confirms what we were all thinking, not only is Troy knitting with only one needle, they’re literally all off their rockers.

Q: Do hooded holsters need to have the hood down before shooting if the optic safety mechanism does not disengage the hood?
If the hood is not disengaged by the safety mechanism and does not affect the draw, it may be acceptable, but if the hood is integrated with the safety system, it should be down.
101. NROI Podcast June 2026 #1
Q: Is the three belt loop requirement still mandatory?
The consensus is that securely fixed at the waist or secured with a minimum of three belt loops satisfies the rule, but belt movement is the critical test rather than the exact number of loops.
100. NROI Podcast May 2026 #2
Q: What are the main benefits of NASO membership for USPSA officials?
The benefits include access to a dedicated insurance program with high coverage limits, liability protection, legal/advisory support, access to training resources and a multi-sport magazine, and a discount on Marriott travel through the partnership, all tailored for international officials with a focus on protection and professional development.
86. NROI Podcast October 2025 #1
Q: Can a competitor request to see their own video to contest a call, and should this influence the ruling?
Competitor-requested video can be discussed, but the ro should not base the ruling on the video after the fact; it may be used to support or contest a decision, not to create the initial call.
86. NROI Podcast October 2025 #1
Q: What should an RO do if they suspect a rule violation after the stage has ended and a competitor has provided video evidence?
The RO should make the initial call based on what they observed at the moment, and only use video afterward to confirm or contest the decision; never rely on video as the primary basis for a ruling. If a violation is suspected, involve the RM or range master and follow official procedures for review or reshoot where appropriate.
