You have such a unique way of communicating with both people and dogs. Youāve helped me immensely as a trainer, but honestly even more as a dog owner.
The way you explain things is direct and honest with no fluff, but still calm, positive, and incredibly easy to absorb. Iām very confident in my knowledge and handling when working with clientsā dogs, but with my own dogs, sometimes the emotions kick in and the ātrainer brainā shuts off for a minute.
Your podcast genuinely helps bring me back to... more
The episode with Dr. Judy Morgan is incredibly disappointing and harmful to pet owners. Iāve worked as a vet tech for almost 10 years, and the garbage that this woman is mentioning and you as well Tom, this is insanely disappointing. Vets do know nutrition, we donāt just sell preventatives or vaccines because some sales rep came in and bought us lunch, the irony that she even USED A PREVENTATIVE FLEA AND TICK PRODUCT on her dogs after a tick infestation and the slammed them in the next breath? Hi Tom, love the pod. I have a dog with a solid 10/10 āplaceā stay, but he will explosively and excessively bark from place if someone enters the room. I recently taught him a āchinā command that requires him to keep his chin touching the ground while in a down, and it has helped tremendously. Now, I usually only get reasonable muffled mutters with his chin down.
Iām happy with the results, but it took a lot of troubleshooting to get here. Is there a better alternative youād recommend for mana... more
I recently listened to one of your podcasts that said you had PTSD from the sound of the growl, which I was surprised to hear you are always the model of calm with dogs. And I would love advice on how you do that? I have lived with an aggressive dog and Iāve been bitten several times and have PTSD. To get over it I volunteer at a rescue kennel. And you know what thatās like. I want to be able to be calm and emit calm to the dogs that Iām dealing with as they are stressed.
I had to give up my membership to your club because of the economy. Times are getting hard, brother, sorry.

This show targets dog owners and practitioners seeking practical, experience-based training guidance and real-world dog behavior insights. Episodes frequently cover leash reactivity, obedience foundations, and risk management, often weaving in client stories, legal considerations, and humane training approaches. A notable strength is the host's emphasis on clear, actionable steps (e.g., three-level obedience, inside turns, and structured play) combined with candid conversations about controversial topics like medical ethics, bite risk, and service-dog dynamics. Regular guests span veterinarians, canine nutritionists, and dog-bite legal experts, creating a broad perspective on canine health, safety, and behavior. The format often includes sp... more
