  • Such good content… when I can hear it.

I have appreciated the content and topics when I can make them out or focus, but as someone who (1) has some auditory processing difficulty with words and (2) listens to podcasts while doing things like driving, doing dishes, cooking, and other things that have their own sounds, the fact that the equipment the hosts are using or the mixing they’re doing leaves the audio sounding like talking on the phone in a tunnel. It’s often overwhelmed by ambient sound if I use my Bluetooth speaker, so then ... more

One Precious Life, One Sustainable Economy (w/Dror Yaron)
Q: How do you see the role of ethics in technology as we move into the future?
Dror explains that ethics in technology starts with defining collective values and translating them into practice; technology mirrors our lived values, so aligning systems to prioritize thriving and happiness can lead to more humane, sustainable innovations.
One Precious Life, One Sustainable Economy (w/Dror Yaron)
Q: Can you share a bit about your background and how you got into the work you're doing today?
Dror describes a long arc—from military service and journalism to education, humanizing technology, and finally coaching and leading in SVN. He emphasizes connecting human-centered values with systems, and how his experiences shaped his mission to align business with life and community.
Creating Place-Based Systems Change (w/Matt Biggar)
Q: How can communities use strategic collaboration to build collective power and overcome resistance?
Effective collaboration combines trust, a compelling shared vision, and tangible progress. It requires coalition-building across diverse groups, engaging government where needed, and ensuring that new land-use changes benefit local businesses and communities to prevent fatigue and drop-off.
Creating Place-Based Systems Change (w/Matt Biggar)
Q: What were the key learnings from your dissertation on transportation behavior?
The big finding was that awareness and price incentives had limited impact by themselves; context—built infrastructure, ease of use, and social support—was crucial. People's decisions were more about physical and sociocultural conditions than pure information.
Creating Place-Based Systems Change (w/Matt Biggar)
Q: Tell us about your background and what drew you to place-based systems change.
I've spent a long career focused on social change and sustainability, starting with political economy studies, then moving through education, research, and consulting to understand how context—physical and social—shapes behavior, especially around transportation and local economies.
