  • Compelling stories, poorly told. The music is too loud. Ann reads like a 5th grader. There was no New Orleans Advocate in 1979. Also, it's pronounced "ESpecially" not "EXpecially." Possessive of Wells isn't "Wellses."

Some of our voices may sound muffled because "masking requirements were still in place." Dude. It was just you.

FYI, a victim can die from injuries sustained after being sodomized AKA a "homosexual act" and Leander Perez was Spanish and a Democrat.

  • Devolved into incoherent and irresponsible self-importance

The first season and some of the second were pretty compelling, but at this point, half the podcast is just Anna talking about herself and making excuses for why she doesn’t really even edit anything anymore, as if dropping irrelevant personal musings and uncontextualized raw audio is some courageous act of integrity instead of poor storytelling and stubborn defensiveness in the face of legitimate, constructive criticism.

She’s also gotten so uncomfortably fixated on pedophiles as low-hanging ... more

  • More than true crime

This is more than just a true crime podcast. Anna Christie is sharing her ongoing investigation of crimes against children that have not been investigated or prosecuted for decades.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

S2 Episode 38 Don't Swing Twice
Q: What is the significance of Burkhardt's community connections?
Burkhardt used his connections, especially within the Boy Scouts, to gain access to children, highlighting systemic failures in protecting vulnerable individuals.
S2 Episode 38 Don't Swing Twice
Q: How have these cases produced zero suspects?
The more victims I find, the harder it is to believe that there are no suspects in these cases.
Episode 9, Baton Rouge
Q: What prompted you folks to decide to exhume the body and do DNA tests?
That’s something that did not exist at the time, and as time progresses, there are more... forensic data banks of dental records that we can use.
Episode 9, Baton Rouge
Q: Tell me why you think this is the work of a possible serial killer?
Because two of them, the John Doe and the other one that was found in Louisiana, one was found in Mississippi, were tied up in exactly the same manner.
Episode 10, The FACES Lab
Q: How confident are you that you can identify this kid?
I like to think we can, now that we have dental x-rays. We're certainly more confident than we were.
