As someone who got into Evangelion 30 years late, this podcast really helped me feel a little less lonely on my journey. I’ll definitely give it a second listen when I sit down for my second viewing of the series.
This is a podcast if you want the hosts to never properly quote the show and constantly misconstrue the context and content of every single scene they break down
I have listened to other Evangelion pods and NERVous wrecks is HANDS DOWN the best Eva pod you’ll find! The hosts get that the show in a way I don’t think everyone does. It’s about trauma it makes people messed up and it makes you hold a mirror to yourself. They have good insightful discussions of a show that’s means so much to so many.
smart analysis brought to you by smart people
Years back, I watched through Neon Genesis Evangelion and came away with mixed feelings. This show has given me a great opportunity to look back at this show and sort out what parts work for me and what parts don’t. Not to mention, it points out a ton of really cool things that I never even considered.
Chris and Jo bring an incredible voice to revisiting Neon Genesis Evangelion and its related spinoffs! This is a great show highlighting the ups and downs of one of the most influential anime of all time, and hearing Chris's first time responses and Jo's reflections on the rewatch is a very rewarding way to revisit the series in today's day and age.

Are you going to do 3.0 podcast? PLS!!!
I love that this exists because now I have a reason to rewatch Evangelion and get depressed again(in a good way). Really enjoy the in depth looks into the show. I’ve always wanted to rewatch it with someone who’s just now seeing it and see their reaction so this fills that spot I’ve always wanted.
As a re-watcher, listening to the podcast before I rewatch an episode is very helpful in drawing my attention to what cool things to look out for and what bits of dialogue are worth noting.
Very helpful and enjoyable listen. I highly recommend to anyone considering a first or second watch of Evangelion.
Thanks guys!
Chris and Jo help the listener parse this exceedingly dense show. It gave me the push I needed to finally experience this classic (I’m part of the 50% first watch!) Wonderful hosts, thoughtful content. Listen to it!!
KeeP the Subs on. NO DUB. Also, could you maybe just shoot straight to the End...? I just watched the End. I need helP. (I don’t mean the last ePisode, I mean the END. 🥵)
...and all is right with the world.
Just discovered y'all, and y'all are fantastic!
One episode comment on #4 Hedgehog's Dilemma re: theater make outs, it seemed to me that along with the discomfort and frustration, Shinji yearned for the closeness and intimacy the young couple had. He was depressed, lonely, and suicidal, and (as a hedgehog) he had no person he felt close to even a little. I think that's why he went back to NERV, hoping he still yet had people who needed and wanted him—a shal... more
A funny and engaging podcast about a complicated subject work. There are no men in America and all's right with the world.
I've never watched the anime and have no plans to but I'd give any podcast a try that has Jo as a host and I'm really liking this one! I'm looking forward to hearing Chris and Jo's thoughts on the rest of the show
