This is one of the best episodes I’ve listened to. Bring her back on! She has such a fresh perspective and she knows her stuff. I loved this conversation with her. Rob does an awesome job with all of his guests, but he and Lisa talking about Survivor was so interesting in a way that goes beyond what we get from the game bots.

Excellent interview. I’ve watched all 50 seasons and Lisa’s perspective of the game is incredible to listen to. You’re the best at what you do Rob.

  • Excellent

I found Rob has a Podcast after the On Fire podcast didn’t happen this season. It’s phenomenal. Everything I want in a Survivor podcast as far as strategy discussion. Rob does an amazing job hosting the podcast and giving his opinions while still respecting Survivor even when he disagrees. Really happy to have found it!

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Know-It-Alls: Survivor 50 Finale
Q: Would you prefer an award-show style reunion instead of a traditional live reunion?
They entertain the idea as an engaging alternative that could preserve closure and celebrate best moments, while acknowledging production constraints and the live dynamics that currently drive reunion formats.
Know-It-Alls: Survivor 50 Finale
Q: Should returning players be judged more on past seasons, or the current game?
They discuss that past performance can influence jury perception, but the open-era framing aims to reward current strategic execution and narrative consistency, with some examples suggesting both past and present impressions matter.
Know-It-Alls: Survivor 50 Finale
Q: Do you think Aubrey's success came from lowering her threat level after Edge of Extinction?
Rob and Stephen agree that Aubrey's strategic calm, improved social gameplay, and timing after Edge of Extinction contributed to her success, while acknowledging that the timing and a favorable cast also played roles in positioning her for the win.
Brennan Lee Mulligan Talks Survivor 50 Ep 12
Q: When you're on a show like Survivor 50, what keeps you excited about the game and what do you think makes it work as entertainment beyond just the strategy?
The joy of the game comes from the human storytelling—the humor, the improv, the clever social maneuvers, and the way players turn a simple vote into a narrative that resonates with viewers. It's the combination of competition and character—the drama, the twists, and the realness of people trying their best under pressure.
Brennan Lee Mulligan Talks Survivor 50 Ep 12
Q: So Brennan, to do an interview such as this, where you come into this world, I'd love to just start with some background in terms of who you are and everything you've done in your career. For anybody who's uninitiated, who may just be meeting you for the first time, can you tell us a little bit of your background and how people know you so well?
I'm a comedian and game-master involved with Dropout TV (Game Changer, Dimension 20), Critical Role, and Worlds Beyond Number, with a background in fantasy and sci‑fi comedy. I started in New York, trained at UCB, and built a career mixing improv, writing, and live performance, which naturally led me toward hosting and performing in tabletop‑centric content.
