I listen to many actual play podcasts, mostly because I understand the settings of the games. But I am developing my own homebrew, and this podcast focuses on how to create and implement an engrossing adventure which is not out of the box. The CRUNCH episodes are the best part, where the crew goes into detail on GMing, playing, and all the little ga-ga which moves a game from good to great.
Mythos Manual is an engaging and interesting Pathfinder actual play with truly enjoyable characters and a vibrant, exciting world. The storytelling expertise of the cast, including GM and players alike, makes this show a joy to listen to. Packing comedy, intrigue, and action in one, this show is excellent. The Crunch episodes on mechanics and homebrewing are insightful and useful for anyone wanting to explore the Pathfinder system.
I’ve been a fan of Actual Play podcasts for a couple years now. I listen to a few of the “big ones “ regularly and they’re great but I’ve tried listening to so many others that fall flat. Mythos Manual is a fantastic gem that captures everything I want from the medium. Good player chemistry, good characters, interesting choices, unique setting. Plus, it has the more relaxed atmosphere of a home brew. I am also a big fan of the Crunch! Episodes. They shine light on the gears of the game while bei... more
As someone who hasn’t played any role playing games in a while, I wasn’t sure how I was going to like this podcast when my friend suggested it to me. However, I immediately fell in love with both the characters and players, and their obvious chemistry. I don’t have a whole lot of time to play anymore, but this podcast scratches that itch for wanting to play. I feel like I’m actually with this group each week as I laugh with them and feel for them through their struggles. Add to that all the behi... more
As a relative stranger to DnD, this podcast has been fun and informative. Absolutely recommend.
I listen to a lot of actual play podcasts & can’t recommend Mythos Manual enough. The players & GM clearly have a genuine, established gaming relationship, the home-brew setting feels fresh but still lived in, and the players all have interesting, unusual characters. I’d worried the “Crunch” episodes would be dry, but they’re really engaging and offer tips & inspiration to other GMs. Add this to your podcast rotation.
I'm loving this podcast. The quality of the storytelling, world-building, and game-playing is all really high. The Player Characters are interesting and the setting is very cool. It's all very inspiring. It's got me drawing fan art ;)
I've listened to the prologue, and so far it seems like it's going to be a very fun story! I appreciate how the whole cast talks about how they approach role playing and what nuances make it a collaborative and enjoyable story telling experience for players and DM alike. There's also a lot of emphasis on how to homebrew your own campaign, so if you're a DM this podcast has great advice in that area.
