  • Love the idea but not the execution

I agree with the review that says there aren’t a lot of specific tips or advice here. It could be useful for inspiration, but I think I prefer homemaking/motherhood podcasts that have some practical nuggets that I can take with me into real life.

  • Love but one nitpick

This is a wonderful podcast. My favorite episodes are the solo ones, actually. I enjoy the interviews but feel that Lisa could improve her interview skills: responses to interviewees other than “right, right, yeah…”, avoiding other filler words, and seeming more prepared. To me it seems like you can tell the ones she’s more excited to talk about than others by the way she interacts with her guests. I feel her personality really shines in the solo episodes!

  • Love Lisa!

I’ve been listening for years and relate so much to all the guests and topics Lisa discusses! Listening to this podcast has made me realize how much I value simple living and helped me focus what is pure and lovely (Philippians 4:8). We have not been blessed with children yet, but through Lisa’s stories and guests, I went from not really having an opinion on birth - to diving into the home birthing world and wanting a large family. This is definitely a life-giving podcast!

  • I wish Lisa was my mom/big sister!

So refreshing to listen to motherhood and homemaking advice that is practical and “chill.” She is humble and honest but very truly the hardest working person I know of. I love all of Lisa’s stuff because it inspires me to work harder, serve my family and enjoy motherhood without making you feel guilty or like you aren’t doing it all correctly. There is so much noise out there that is the one podcast I choose to listen to and I am a better person because of it.

  • I Love the Q&A

Lisa I am 21 and have been a listener since I was 18!

I am pregnant with my first child and I hope to have many more. I absolutely cling to your advice and experience like you were my own mom, I don’t know any health conscious, natural minded or big family moms I can go to for advice on birth, babies, home life etc. so your podcast is a true gift to me. I love your steady, honest, laid back approach to motherhood and home making and your can do attitude. It makes me believe in myself. I love li... more

The Farmhouse Edit: Q&A: My Approach to Date Nights, Clutter, Sourdough & Large Family Life + More Home Build Decisions
Q: With the new house, how do you anticipate the fridge and pantry flow to work within the kitchen layout, and what trade-offs are you comfortable making in this planning stage?
I describe a planned setup where parts of the kitchen will be outside the main flow, with a pantry area hosting a dedicated baking station and outlets for appliances. While this requires careful planning and could limit easy swaps later, I'm comfortable because there's time to adjust and it's a space that will evolve as we live with it. The lesson is to expect tastefully balancing aesthetics with practical functionality in a build.
The Farmhouse Edit: Q&A: My Approach to Date Nights, Clutter, Sourdough & Large Family Life + More Home Build Decisions
Q: In your last Q&A, you mentioned bringing the baby on dates with you when they're very young. How do you handle attending weddings with a 15-month-old who co-sleeps, especially when there are overnight stays involved?
I advise not forcing a strict 'must have' date-night routine during early motherhood. If the baby co-sleeps and sleep training isn't aligned with the wedding schedule, it's often better to skip the wedding or adjust by bringing a teen to stay with the baby or opting for an in-home date night when possible. The emphasis is on avoiding guilt and recognizing that seasons are temporary; flexibility and small, regular connection with your partner matter more than a single event.“
332. What Modern Culture Gets Wrong About Boys: How to Raise Strong, Capable Sons | Rebekah Lovell, Author of Boyhood Resurrected
Q: What is the difference between healthy sensitivity and unhealthy fragility in boys, and how do you strengthen the former without hardening their hearts?
Encourage empathy and emotional expression while maintaining boundaries and exposing them to challenging experiences that grow courage, responsibility, and resilience without dampening their hearts.
332. What Modern Culture Gets Wrong About Boys: How to Raise Strong, Capable Sons | Rebekah Lovell, Author of Boyhood Resurrected
Q: How do you address chronic whining, resistance or laziness in boys, especially around chores and family responsibilities?
Use a structured consequence system (e.g., push-ups or heavier chores) paired with clear expectations, and follow through consistently to teach that whining is unproductive and work yields results.
The Farmhouse Edit: Reverse Meal Planning, Stock-Up Staples & Grocery Hacks for Real Life | Christine of Frugal Fit Mom
Q: What is reverse meal planning and how does it work for a big family?
Lisa explains reverse meal planning starts with pantry contents and sales, then builds meals around what's on hand, using sauces and seasonings to keep meals varied and tasty.
