  • An Entish Reading

A wonderful reading of the best book of the twentieth century. The slow pace is worthy of Treebeard. Narnian points many hidden gems out. LOTRO is a great medium within which to “Explore the Lord of the Rings.” I hope to catch up and listen to the Grey Havens.

  • Deep rather than broad

Many of the podcasts I follow give great overviews of whole eras of history or types of literature in a half hour. It is harder to find deep dives into topics beyond the barest introduction. This podcast scratches that itch for the lotr, one of my heart books.

  • Wonderful

A truly deep and wonderful dive. I only worry that only those few us families of who will reach five score years and remain hale, will ever see the end of it!

Session 320: Poetry Appreciation
Q: What do the dwarves want to come back for?
Sam’s naive question reflects a deeper concern about the viability of returning to a place filled with fear and darkness.
Session 318: Finding the Third Dimension: the Middle Stanzas
Q: Do you hear how?
The question led me to this analysis of this poem, asking why it isn't boring; it should be, but it doesn't feel simple due to the depth texture and the shape of the sound structure.
