  • Audio is always bad.

I’ve been dipping in to this podcast every so often for 2 years and it’s guaranteed to sound like someone yelling over a vacuum cleaner in a laundry mat. Oh well, there’s plenty of other equine podcasts to listen to.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

THE MAN - THE LEGEND - MULE GUY - STUNTMAN IN WESTERN FILM - HOWDY FOWLER
Q: What are some notable experiences with animals on set, like Sadie the Wonder Mule?
Sadie the Wonder Mule worked in History Channel productions and No Man's Land, performing in rope cattle and long shoots; the animal needed care, careful feeding after intense days, and occasional downtime to stay reliable on camera.
THE MAN - THE LEGEND - MULE GUY - STUNTMAN IN WESTERN FILM - HOWDY FOWLER
Q: How did you break into the film industry and what was your first big stunt?
A film company needed a horse to go through a teepee; I demonstrated the setup, built a makeshift back alley with blankets, and successfully executed the scene, which led to more stunt work and contract acts in various productions.
THE MAN - THE LEGEND - MULE GUY - STUNTMAN IN WESTERN FILM - HOWDY FOWLER
Q: When did you get started in your career with mules?
I started as a kid after a rough incident with a mule; my dad's mule training and a close call on the corrals set me on a lifelong path with mules, leading to a career in rodeos, ranch work, and eventually film stunts.
MULE TRAINER PAUL GARRISON III - WORKING WITH CLIENTS AND THEIR MULES
Q: So, they contact you because they just don't have that complete bond that they're looking for?
Yes, typically the issue is with the human; the mule often has fewer fundamental problems than the owner who needs education and consistent methods to build a bond.
MULE TRAINER PAUL GARRISON III - WORKING WITH CLIENTS AND THEIR MULES
Q: Now, how do they know to get in touch with you? I mean, how do they find you?
I advertise mainly on Facebook, target mule pages with daily posts, and use YouTube to reach people, with dozens of videos that help funnel clients toward my clinics.
