  • Movie Friends

Michelle and Seth live up to their theme song as they “tackle film without pretension”. Their overall healthy attitude towards movies and pleasant demeanor is a breath of fresh air. Even if they have a take on a movie that I don’t agree with, I still enjoy hearing their reaction to the film. I’m really excited for their upcoming movie and can’t wait to see what it entails.

This is my relaxing comfort show. Seth and Michelle’s soothing voices are like a warm blanket on a cold winter’s morning. They are also my Ebert and Roeper and/or Siskel.

  • I Love the Movie Friends

Lovely people, great podcast. I thoroughly enjoy their completely different point of views. I’ve had the pleasure of appearing on their podcast a few times and it’s always fun & a safe space to give our opinions. As a fellow The OC fanatic, I relate to Michelle very much, but also love Seth’s fresh takes on a show I’m overly familiar with; I thoroughly enjoy hearing what he has to say about it as it’s often something I would never have thought of. Can’t wait for them to cover Season 4!

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

eXistenZ w/ Felicia
Q: What is your relationship to video games and does ExistenZ have anything meaningful to say about them today?
The guests agree that ExistenZ still feels relevant because it probes how immersive media can blur lines between reality and simulation, a concern that has only intensified with modern AI and VR, even if Cronenberg didn't intend to predict the exact technologies we use now.
28 Years Later: The Bone Temple w/ Ryan Ritter
Q: How did you feel about the big Iron Maiden, Number of the Beast, Interpretive Dance performance scene?
I think it's remarkable that Ralph Fiennes was willing to bring in a warm, humanist performance that's very vulnerable while doing the Iron Maiden sequence, which could have easily not worked.
28 Years Later: The Bone Temple w/ Ryan Ritter
Q: Can you tell me about your initial reactions upon seeing 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple?
My overwhelming thought about it, like my overriding thought when I think about this movie and the series is what a strange franchise this is.
Interview - Steve Sanders
Q: What is the writing process like in a practical way?
We did a lot of over the phone stuff...until we went to the table read.
Interview - Steve Sanders
Q: What is it like for you to like, you know, go out on a limb with this idea, and then get a great reaction like that?
It's a great feeling, you know, the kind of reception you wish you can get for a film.
