Jeez these 2 have a problem with EVERY movie!! They are just negative about everything! I've listened to a bunch but they just wear me down with all this gloomy, critical, pessimisstic attitude about every movie!! Talk about nitpicking. This isn't a movie review podcast it's a "let's just complain about everything" podcast. Pass.
In all fairness, my one star rating is a reflection of the one episode I listened to, so I recognize it is rather unfair to judge the entire series. With that said…
Throughout the episode on The Untouchables, the hosts incorrectly (and continually) refer to the film as a “biopic”. It was never that. The ‘80’s were a time when it was quite in vogue to make movies out of old television shows. DePalma was tasked with reviving the spirit of “The Untouchables” (1959-63) starring Robert Stack and tha... more
As a longtime fan of his and a new listener here I checked out the Airheads episode and it was good but hard to hear Brendan Fraser called Brandon throughout the episode .
I listened to the Muriel’s Wedding episode. Apparently it’s fine and normal when men use women for sex but shallow and pathetic for a woman to be excited about their wedding day.
Get bent, dude.
Been binging this podcast and I love it. They’re pretty spot on with their committee ratings of 80s and 90s movies, revisiting them to see if they hold up. Gene could be a little less woke, everything is “white males bad” and “that’s racist”, but he’s got a great radio voice and he and Big D are/were complete degenerates, which I can relate to.

This show focuses on nostalgic deep-dives into 1980s and 1990s cinema, with a heavy emphasis on reexamining classic titles through candid banter, personal anecdotes, and listener commissions. Episodes mix meticulous discussion of film elements, cultural context, and memory-lane storytelling, often contrasting the era's filmmaking with contemporary standards. A notable trait is the collaborative, reader-driven nature of content—listeners commission reviews and the hosts lean into playful debate and strong personalities to fuel the conversations. The format tends to blend affectionate nostalgia with sharp, opinionated critiques, making it appealing to longtime fans seeking both entertainment and film insight from a hands-on, impression-driven... more
