  • Just listen already!

5⭐️ - KC is so thoughtful in all that she does and the topics and guests she brings to these conversations are always so helpful and relevant to the mat stages of parenthood, and quite honestly, womanhood/life. It’s like talking to friends about the taboo and the frustrating bits of life, with zero shame or judgement! You won’t be disappointed.

  • Feels like a friend chat

Absolutely adore this podcast! I have followed KC since 2020 and have missed her raw chats. This feels so much like the old times of insta but even better. I love listening and feeling like I am chatting with a friend about all the things. My favorite part “whatever it doesn’t matter” 😂 because it’s literally how we talk to friends while telling a story. We get sidetracked and try to stay on the same story. Keep this up KC! Can’t wait to hear all the episodes to come!

  • 100% worth the follow and listen

I am NOT a podcast person (seriously, can’t ever get into them) but I’ve followed KC on instagram for a few years and wanted to give this a listen because of much of her story I can relate too. Let me tell you, it’s so validating and real.

  • Easy to listen to one of my best friends

KC has such a sweet voice, but her knowledge, insights and vulnerability add tremendous strength. KC doesn’t know me, but I feel like she is one of my best friends, during this very challenging and lonely journey of motherhood; she gets it and she is sharing so that no one feels alone. I feel seen. Keep up the lovely work you do KC.

29. Your Menstrual Cycle Explained: Hormones, Reproductive Health & Advocating for Yourself with Dr. Kerry-Anne Perkins
Q: What is your number one tip for women to advocate for themselves and their daughters?
Educate yourself about what normal looks like and find a provider who will listen and spend time with you. If you feel unheard, seek second or third opinions. You should be treated with care and as if you were a family member's own.
29. Your Menstrual Cycle Explained: Hormones, Reproductive Health & Advocating for Yourself with Dr. Kerry-Anne Perkins
Q: Can you walk us through the phases of the menstrual cycle and what each phase means for daily life?
The cycle starts on day one with the period; the follicular phase follows as the egg matures with rising estrogen, bringing clarity and strength, then ovulation occurs in the middle, and the luteal phase involves rising progesterone which can slow energy and influence mood and weight, followed by the next period. Tracking helps tailor workouts and nutrition to these hormonal states.
28. Perimenopause As a Reset, Not a Breakdown: Hormones, Nutrition, and Strength for Moms with Dr. Amy Shah
Q: What is one habit you wish all women would start today and one to stop?
Start with the 3033 habit (protein, fiber, probiotics) and increasing daytime sunlight exposure to improve mood and circadian regulation; stop thinking about becoming smaller and instead focus on becoming stronger through nutrition and exercise.
28. Perimenopause As a Reset, Not a Breakdown: Hormones, Nutrition, and Strength for Moms with Dr. Amy Shah
Q: What practical nutritional guidelines should women prioritize during perimenopause?
Prioritize 30 grams of protein at breakfast, 30 grams of fiber throughout the day, and at least three servings of probiotic foods daily; also engage in regular strength training to counteract muscle loss, and ensure circadian-aligned eating patterns to support metabolism and sleep.
28. Perimenopause As a Reset, Not a Breakdown: Hormones, Nutrition, and Strength for Moms with Dr. Amy Shah
Q: What are the biggest hormones to understand for women in perimenopause and why do they matter?
The key hormones are cortisol, estrogen, progesterone, and testosterone. Cortisol tends to rise during perimenopause due to reduced buffering by estrogen and progesterone, while estrogen and progesterone decline, affecting energy, sleep, mood, and cravings. Understanding their interplay helps tailor nutrition, exercise, and sleep strategies to maintain energy and brain health.
