  • Immensely entertaining & educational

I can’t tell you how much I enjoy this podcast! I’ll put it on, clean house, run errands or simply zone out and listen. It brings memories of lake fishing in TN with my dad. I just finished the “Trip of a Lifetime” podcast & am seriously considering booking an Alaska fishing trip. Another bonus is the host’s MN accent, which is great. Kudos!!!

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

Dog Training
Q: Can you explain the importance of medical rule-outs in behavioral cases?
Medical issues can underlie behavioral problems; collaborating with veterinarians to rule out pain or other conditions is essential before pursuing behavior modification.
Dog Training
Q: What is your starting point with families who have dogs that struggle with basic obedience?
We start by focusing on welfare needs and the family context, using LEGS and the five domains to identify unmet needs in the dog and the home, rather than jumping straight to training or punishment.
The Norwegian Foot March
Q: What's the gear list? What's the training suggestion from you look like?
Commit to it mentally, start with small distances and gradually build up, train with a 25-pound pack, and practice foot care and hydration. Build up to 18 miles with proper socks, lacing, and pacing to meet the time goal.
Where The Green Light Shines: Master paddler Bob O'Hara
Q: Why did you decide to write a book about Bob O'Hara's life and paddling journeys?
The author explains that Bob's decades-long exploration of Arctic rivers, his fearless curiosity, and his role in shaping a modern canoe culture presented a compelling, multi-faceted story that goes beyond individual expeditions to illustrate larger shifts in outdoor adventure.
Ann Bancroft
Q: What was the interview process like for joining the North Pole expedition team?
The process was informal yet rigorous, focusing on values and compatibility; the candidate and the team spent days talking, sharing stories, and assessing how one would handle long, challenging conditions rather than just testing physical skills.
