  • I can’t tell you one thing this podcast has helped me with

The fishing industry knows that most of us do not have an income that will reasonably allow them to make them the profit that they want.

That is why these shows that are nonstop nonsense exist.

World Ice Fishing Championship w/ Joe Martinez | JMO Fishing 396
Q: What makes World Championship ice fishing different from regular ice fishing, and what skills stand out most?
The competition is fast-paced and highly strategic with strict rules—no electronics, strict zone-based play, and a reliance on pre-fishing data and spotters. The standout skills are speed, map-based pre-planning, situational awareness, and the ability to make smart, split-second decisions to stay ahead of opponents.
World Ice Fishing Championship w/ Joe Martinez | JMO Fishing 396
Q: How did you become president of Team USA Ice Fishing, and what path did you take to get there?
I started by volunteering and showing a strong willingness to help in any capacity, which led to more responsibility. Reaching out relentlessly for information, attending tryouts, and demonstrating commitment helped me earn a leadership role when the board needed someone who could organize and unify the team.
Spring River Walleyes w/ Jacob Sweere | JMO Fishing 397
Q: Is it like, are you looking, is it like a winter type of pattern? Like are these like wintering holes that you're trying to get out to when you're out there that early?
Jacob describes how patterns change with flow and runoff, with wintering holes and deeper pools serving as anchors early in the season, followed by migration up towards dams and spawning flows as conditions shift.
Spring River Walleyes w/ Jacob Sweere | JMO Fishing 397
Q: You're going to have to tell me a little bit of backstory or just tell me kind of the whole story, how it came to be you and your buddies or whoever was with you putting that boat in on the Mississippi River.
Jacob explains the early season launch on the Mississippi, the improvisation to get the boat in on ice into open water, and how the cold water sets the tone for the season's first trips, emphasizing practical challenges and the creativity needed to get started.
Fish Frostbite and Late Ice Greenbacks w/ Mark Tully | JMO Fishing 393
Q: Why is Lake Winnipeg so central to Frostbite's strategy, and what should anglers know about fishing there?
The guests discuss the unique, aggressive greenback walleyes of Lake Winnipeg and stress gear selection tuned to deep, cold environments, highlighting the importance of heavier tackle and specific lure colors and patterns that work well in that lake's conditions.
