  • I can’t tell you one thing this podcast has helped me with

The fishing industry knows that most of us do not have an income that will reasonably allow them to make them the profit that they want.

That is why these shows that are nonstop nonsense exist.

Lake Sakakawea Walleyes w/ Russel Kinzler | JMO Fishing 400
Q: What advice would you give to anglers regarding fishing depth later in the season?
If fishing deep, anglers should consider catching their limit and moving to shallower water to avoid injuring fish during deep-water releases, thereby supporting better survival and future stocks.
Lake Sakakawea Walleyes w/ Russel Kinzler | JMO Fishing 400
Q: What does a typical year look like in terms of walleye population and recruitment on Sakakawea?
The walleye population has generally been strong with an upward trend since the 1960s; there was a peak around 2017, followed by relative stability. Stocking and natural reproduction, especially in the upper end, help sustain the population, though droughts can impact year classes.
Lake Sakakawea Walleyes w/ Russel Kinzler | JMO Fishing 400
Q: How long have you been in your role overseeing the Missouri River system?
He started as a seasonal in 1991, has worked in Riverdale since then, and eventually became the supervisor, overseeing the Missouri River system and its management.
World Ice Fishing Championship w/ Joe Martinez | JMO Fishing 396
Q: What makes World Championship ice fishing different from regular ice fishing, and what skills stand out most?
The competition is fast-paced and highly strategic with strict rules—no electronics, strict zone-based play, and a reliance on pre-fishing data and spotters. The standout skills are speed, map-based pre-planning, situational awareness, and the ability to make smart, split-second decisions to stay ahead of opponents.
World Ice Fishing Championship w/ Joe Martinez | JMO Fishing 396
Q: How did you become president of Team USA Ice Fishing, and what path did you take to get there?
I started by volunteering and showing a strong willingness to help in any capacity, which led to more responsibility. Reaching out relentlessly for information, attending tryouts, and demonstrating commitment helped me earn a leadership role when the board needed someone who could organize and unify the team.
