  • I can’t tell you one thing this podcast has helped me with

The fishing industry knows that most of us do not have an income that will reasonably allow them to make them the profit that they want.

That is why these shows that are nonstop nonsense exist.

Catching Giants In Dirty Water w/ Dylan Nussbaum | JMO Fishing 406
Q: How did you approach the distribution of big fish and the decision to stay on a productive area versus moving around?
I looked for schools that could yield multiple big fish and would pass on areas with smaller potential, staying on promising spots and upgrading through the day, which often meant staying near a single productive square rather than chasing every fish that came along.
Catching Giants In Dirty Water w/ Dylan Nussbaum | JMO Fishing 406
Q: What was your mindset after day one, and how did that shape your plan for day two?
I initially felt disappointed and believed I had blown my chances, but I shifted to a renewed plan for day two, focusing on graphing my way back to productive water and staying open to adjustments rather than overthinking others' approaches.
Catching Giants In Dirty Water w/ Dylan Nussbaum | JMO Fishing 406
Q: Going through day one, what did your presentation arsenal look like when you're out there battling these conditions?
I relied on a three-eighths ounce jig with a four-inch scented jerk shad in shallower water, stepping up to a half-ounce jig later to get down faster in deeper water, while mixing in jerk shads and crawlers to react or steady the bite as needed.
Lake Sakakawea Walleyes w/ Russel Kinzler | JMO Fishing 400
Q: What advice would you give to anglers regarding fishing depth later in the season?
If fishing deep, anglers should consider catching their limit and moving to shallower water to avoid injuring fish during deep-water releases, thereby supporting better survival and future stocks.
Lake Sakakawea Walleyes w/ Russel Kinzler | JMO Fishing 400
Q: What does a typical year look like in terms of walleye population and recruitment on Sakakawea?
The walleye population has generally been strong with an upward trend since the 1960s; there was a peak around 2017, followed by relative stability. Stocking and natural reproduction, especially in the upper end, help sustain the population, though droughts can impact year classes.
