  • Stop pushing the other podcast

I like the mindful mama podcast but I do not like the Jay Shetty one. Please stop pushing it when you push yours. I tolerated it for months at this point because I thought it was a temporary thing. I will unsubscribe if this doesn’t stop by the end of November 2025.

How To Raise An Adult - Julie Lithcott-Haims
Q: Why do you emphasize chores and unstructured time as core parts of healthy development?
Chores and unstructured time teach obligation, resilience, problem-solving, and self-regulation. They foster a sense of belonging to something bigger than oneself and help children build a durable work ethic and autonomy that supports success in adulthood.
How To Raise An Adult - Julie Lithcott-Haims
Q: What is the four-step method for teaching kids skills?
The method starts with doing the task for the child, then doing it with them, then watching them do it, and finally allowing them to do it independently, gradually transferring responsibility so they can fend for themselves.
How To Raise An Adult - Julie Lithcott-Haims
Q: Can you tell the listener how you started to notice the problem as you see it in How to Raise an Adult?
Julie explains how, as Stanford's freshman dean, she observed parents who lingered in their kids' college lives, increasingly intervening in day-to-day decisions. Over time she realized this helicopter parenting was shaping students to rely on others rather than developing agency, a trend that inspired her to write the book and advocate for fostering independence from a young age.
How to Raise Secure Kids (Even If You Didn’t Grow Up Secure) - Adam Lane Smith
Q: What is the most important mindset shift for parents aiming to improve?
The most important shift is accepting that perfect parenting is impossible and focusing on building a self-correcting family system where conflicts can be acknowledged, repaired, and learned from, with a calm, regulated nervous system guiding responses.
[Parenting Challenging Kids Series] How To Solve Behavior Problems - Dr. Ross Greene
Q: Wait, can we go back to the empathy step? Give me an example of that.
An example involved a father and his three-year-old daughter where toothpaste flavor wasn't the issue; through empathy, they discovered the toothbrush water spray bothered her, leading to a simple, mutually satisfactory adjustment.
