  • Great content

Content is great but the mixing of the sound needs improvement. The audio levels of the host and guests are very different. Harder to hear the guests.

  • National Talent, Regional Relevancy

I stumbled across this podcast while searching for interviews with Shane Bacon. As a coach and competitive player in the Midwest, it has quickly become my favorite golf podcast. Topic range from tech, to fitness, to golf branding, to collegiate golf, to tips from teaching pros. The hosts are easy to listen to, intelligent, and speak in a language that good players and enthusiasts will both enjoy.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

125: Jim Hackenberg (Orange Whip)
Q: Coming from the guy that made it, what is the main benefit of the Orange Whip?
The main benefits are rhythm and balance, with the device teaching a natural loading and unloading motion that helps players develop timing and swing plane even when not hitting a ball; it combines rhythm, balance, and a counterbalanced weight to train an athletic, on-plane swing.
132: John Ashworth
Q: How did the Masters win by Fred Couples influence the brand's trajectory?
Fred's Masters win gave Ashworth visibility at a moment when the golf fashion landscape was sparse, allowing us to establish credibility and scale quickly as we expanded onto the tour through ambassadors who embodied the look we were pursuing.
132: John Ashworth
Q: What sparked the idea for Ashworth to start, and how did the early market shape the brand?
The idea came from a niche need for golf apparel that felt different from the dominant, gym-like polyester of the time. We moved from LA to build a small, distinctive collection that resonated with golfers who wanted natural fabrics and timeless style, which Fred Couples' early support amplified.
135: Cal Clutterbuck
Q: How does he approach equipment and fitting to improve his game?
He emphasizes working with fitters to tailor shafts and head configurations to his timing, noting how small changes (like tipping shafts or adjusting bounce) can dramatically affect accuracy and feel, and he values consistency and personal preference in equipment choices.
133: GolfCask
Q: What's your favorite golf course you've played?
Caves Valley is particularly memorable for its setting and private status, giving a sense of exclusivity and a meaningful connection to UVA through shared history.
