  • Learning About the Process

I am not a writer nor an actor, but love the theater as a patron. I have thoroughly enjoyed listening to each of Dennis Bush’s guests as they chat about what inspires them. It is so interesting to hear the steps taken to build their initial thoughts and the process each party goes through to deliver the final product. I find it really does add a lovely peek inside the creative minds.

  • Meet Me in the Monologue

The structure of this podcast is unique and fascinating as it explores the “behind-the-scenes” thought process that delves into the writing, and at times directing, and performance of a monologue. Each episode is different yet follows the same theme. I have learned so much about the artistic process and remain intrigued to continue to dive into each new episode. The hosts are wonderful and ask very thought-provoking questions and the guests are forthcoming and brilliant in the sharing of their p... more

  • Meet Me In The Monologue

The concept, by Dennis Bush, of having a playwright discuss a monologue in a specific play then having an actor read that monologue is both a brilliant idea & a delight in which to listen. It enlarges a moment in the play by presenting background reasoning for the monologue & gives life to that moment via the voice of the actor. I look forward to hearing both the playwrights thoughts/reasoning for the specific topic & the actors voice giving it life.

Meet Me In The Monologue, Episode 111, Guests: David Rigano & Catie Carlisle
Q: So where did the inspiration for that monologue and the whole play come from, David?
The idea started with the concept of a game where friends would eulogize each other while still alive, exploring themes of death and mortality.
Meet Me In The Monologue, Episode 107, Guest: Lucinda McDermott
Q: How has your relationship to Georgia O'Keeffe and her art or rather your perception of her shifted as you've gotten older and worked on this?
At some point, your hero has to fall off the pedestal. I had a realization about her treatment of her best friend Anita Pollitzer, which changed my perception of her and how I portray her.
Meet Me In The Monologue, Episode 107, Guest: Lucinda McDermott
Q: What was the impetus to start working on O'Keeffe? And did you always know it was going to be a piece for you?
Yes, I always knew it was going to be a piece for me. The first impetus to write this was being introduced to her work at a young age, when her autobiography came out, which deeply inspired me.
