Refreshingly open minded approach to Noir that moves well beyond the classic era to the present day - this approach breathes fresh life into this iconic movie scene making it timeless and the eps a fascinating listen.
Very pleased to find this podcast and to discover the premiere episode covers my favorite movie, The Big Sleep. As much as I would like to quibble with some of the drawbacks the hosts point out with the film, I really can't. They're all fair. I also like that the hosts have obviously read and reference the source novel which a lot of people don't and I think the comparisons they make between the book's strengths and weaknesses and the film's and where the two diverge are pretty spot on. I really enjoyed this episode. The Big Sleep is one of my favourite books/films. I've seen the movie more times than I care to admit, and I learned a few new things about this movie. The hosts give a thoughtful and measured take on this film noir classic, which kept me engaged throughout what was a fairly lengthy podcast. I’ll definitely be back for more.
