  • Practical AND evidence-based

Each episode that I have listened to provides practical, reasonable information. It’s not watered down, but it also helps people get out of the weeds (which I admit, I sometimes tend to do ). I am an OT and I will recommend this to all of my clients who are interested in health and wellness and sound, doable nutrition.

The F Word: Navigating Fatphobia in Healthcare and Beyond
Q: Do you think society has such a problem with people in larger bodies?
Society is conditioned to think that being fat is wrong, linking success and attractiveness to slimness and enforcing harmful stereotypes.
The F Word: Navigating Fatphobia in Healthcare and Beyond
Q: What advice do you have for providers who are treating plus size patients?
Providers should approach every patient as an individual and focus on their present health concerns rather than making assumptions about their weight.
The F Word: Navigating Fatphobia in Healthcare and Beyond
Q: Tell me how you define fat phobia, and is there a difference between that word and weight bias?
Fat phobia can be described as a secret insult that we hide and then flash out when needed, whereas weight bias is the assumption that a fat person can't do something or is unhealthy.
Nutrition on the MIND: Alzheimer's and Diet
Q: What about the opposite? The evidence that a healthy diet can decrease the risk of Alzheimer's. What studies have been done?
A recent study showed that the MIND diet improved cognition, but the results need further investigation as both diets may lead to improved health when patients focus on their eating.
Nutrition on the MIND: Alzheimer's and Diet
Q: How strong would you rate the evidence that diet and Alzheimer's are linked?
There's probably a link, and many diets high in saturated fats and the typical Western diets have been shown to be worse for cognitive aging.
