  • Theoretical & Applied Behavioural Conversations

Great discussions of theory and applied behavioural interventions across a wide breadth of human experience. Real life and practice reflections integrated with foundational understanding of the human mind, biology and social structure.

  • Great show!

I listen to every episode with interest and take away something useful each time. I love the interviews, but the solo episodes are valuable too.

  • Super straightforward, helpful, unobtrusive

I really appreciate the clarity and expertise of this podcast. It’s not about entertaining effects and storytelling, but content. It’s generous, measured, almost anti-sensationalist, a cure.

  • Absolutely brilliant

Every episode is enlightening. The approach, conversations and depth of information is deeply enriching. So refreshing to hear practitioners with this level of insight into human behaviour.

  • Absolutely fantastic

Not a single episode that doesn't fascinate me. Thank you for all your hard work. I especially love the clinical topic overviews and the evolutional psychiatry episode. Maybe something on women's health or menopause would be great. There are women's health clinics opening up around the country and it's becoming more of a focus.

E168 | Thinking Films: Taxi Driver (1976) w/ Tom Shkolnik
Q: What film would you pair Taxi Driver with for a double feature?
We discussed King of Comedy as a twin, sharing the underground-male archetype, and Bringing Out the Dead as a later Scorsese-Schrader pairing that mirrors Taxi Driver's themes in a different era.
E162 | Training Your Mind to Break World Records (w/ Neil Agius)
Q: How do you deal with pressure as a role model?
Initially it felt pressuring, but now I just focus on living my life authentically, and if others find inspiration in that, it's a bonus.
E162 | Training Your Mind to Break World Records (w/ Neil Agius)
Q: What is your perspective on failure and its significance in growth?
I've come to view failure as an essential part of growth, largely stemming from childhood conditioning that creates a fear of failure in adulthood.
E162 | Training Your Mind to Break World Records (w/ Neil Agius)
Q: What techniques do you use for maintaining focus and mental resilience during swims?
I employ breathing techniques and visualization to manage focus, and prepare mentally for extreme conditions during my swims.
E162 | Training Your Mind to Break World Records (w/ Neil Agius)
Q: How did ultra long-distance swimming start for you?
It began with a casual mindset; I wasn't initially aiming to be an ultra distance swimmer, it was more about ticking off personal milestones from my competitive swimming background.
