  • All in the Mind awards neverending

Almost every single episode is either mentioning nominations, finalists or the awards themselves. It becomes tedious waiting for a decent episode on something interesting outside of who nominated who for an award that it coming up then announced.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

How to be OK in a world that isn’t
Q: Is it possible to feel OK in a world that isn't, and how can individuals start implementing this?
Yes, by combining practical strategies like setting worry windows, building social support, limiting exposure to distressing news, and using targeted plans that trigger coping behaviors when needed.
Could a keto diet help treat bipolar depression?
Q: Why might a ketogenic, high fat, low carbohydrate diet help improve symptoms of bipolar disorder?
It may relate to energy balance in the brain, with ketones possibly providing a more efficient energy source than glucose for neural networks involved in mood regulation, though the idea is in early days and requires more evidence.
Overcoming OCD
Q: How effective is cognitive behavioral therapy with exposure and response prevention for OCD?
CBT with ERP is highly effective; about 80% of people can get rid of their OCD with the right combination of treatment, and many others achieve substantial improvements.
Overcoming OCD
Q: As a clinician, what kind of impact do you see OCD having on people's lives?
OCD can be profoundly disabling, preventing schooling, leaving people housebound, and consuming most of their day, but with proper treatment many can regain significant functioning.
Asylum hotels and mental health
Q: What impact does hotel accommodation have on the mental health of asylum seekers?
Hotel accommodation negatively impacts asylum seekers' mental health, causing heightened distress compared to other living conditions.
