  • Amazing Stuff

I am a founder and have been running a startup since a year now. I was always curious to understand VCs/Investor’s perspective. This is a great podcast which provides complete context on overall VC perspectives and what are the things to focus, avoid as an early founders. Specially liked the Tarun’s episode on referencing. This was aired right around the same time when I was looking for a cofounder. That episode has really helped a lot. Thanks much for doing this.

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

236: 150 rejections, a government ban and starting over | The Dream11 story | Unstarted Ep 7
Q: Hi, I'm Sukriti Shukla. Do you really need to have an additional idea to be able to build a company?
The emphasis was not on chasing a new idea but on lived experience and solving real problems; execution and the right team matter more than the initial idea.
233: He shut down his first company and built a bigger one | Anil Goteti, Scapia | Unstarted Ep 5
Q: What were the main experiences or projects from your time at Flipkart, and who did you learn the most from?
Various initiatives across different roles exposed him to e-commerce at scale, from launching an Amazon-like marketplace to improving seller experiences; leaders at Flipkart empowered teams and taught him to make decisive, customer-focused calls, with inspiration drawn from mentors and fellow founders alike.
232: He built a $1.5B seafood empire from India that nobody knows about | Utham Gowda -Captain Fresh
Q: What is Captain Fresh today and why build it the way you did?
Captain Fresh is a multi-geo, multi-species, vertically integrated seafood platform that uses technology to connect fishermen, processors, and premium customers, with a packaged-food model to reduce price and quality volatility and to provide a consistent product year-round. The strategy combines acquisitions, controlled back-end processing, and a platform play to scale margins and geography quickly.
231: The truth about about starting up in your 20s | Foxtale founder
Q: How do you know when you've reached product-market fit?
PMF is determined by customer-backed evidence: high retention at scale, a strong revenue per SKU, and marketing data showing sustainable growth rather than short-lived gains from new products. It requires talking to customers, testing the thesis, and watching how metrics like ROAS and retention behave across larger cohorts.
230: What Aman Gupta Won't Say on Shark Tank | Aman Gupta | Avnish Bajaj | UnStarted Ep3
Q: In childhood, what similarities and differences do you see compared to who you are today?
Aman explains that entrepreneurship wasn't an innate identity; it evolved from curiosity and a willingness to explore multiple paths, including early stints in CA and corporate roles, before embracing startup life.
