  • Amazing Stuff

I am a founder and have been running a startup since a year now. I was always curious to understand VCs/Investor’s perspective. This is a great podcast which provides complete context on overall VC perspectives and what are the things to focus, avoid as an early founders. Specially liked the Tarun’s episode on referencing. This was aired right around the same time when I was looking for a cofounder. That episode has really helped a lot. Thanks much for doing this.

241: How 3 IIT engineers built one of India's biggest beauty brands | Manish Taneja | Unstarted
Q: Hi Manish, do you really need to have an original idea to be able to build a company?
No, originality isn't a prerequisite; the key is to identify a unique angle, combine it with execution, and adapt to local demand, learning as you go and leveraging data to differentiate rather than simply copying others.
239: How Rebel Foods Built the World's First Cloud Kitchen Empire | Jaydeep Barman | Unstarted

Founder mentality: mission-driven, owner-like, and front-line obsessed, with written answers and assignments rather than relying on CVs; culture is built through this process.

Ask about the questions they have asked and what they discovered that the world doesn't know; candidates should demonstrate independent ideation and a habit of thinking deeply.
