  • Informative Fun

I’ve been listening since this podcast launched and I’m a big fan. The length is good — not so long to make you fall asleep, but not too short to leave out pertinent information. My one critique is the app design update—it used to be a fun bright blue and modern logo, and now it’s a generic dark blue; a bit boring and what you’d expect from a... more

Talking Points

Recent interactions between the hosts and their guests.

A full guide to Fed independence (January 20, 2026)
Q: Why is Fed independence in the spotlight today more so than it's been even in the past few months?
Recent political investigations, particularly against Fed Chairman Jay Powell, have escalated concerns regarding the independence of the Federal Reserve.
Credit: canaries in the coal mine, or a healthy reality check (November 10, 2025)
Q: If you see a slowdown in the broader economy, where might we actually see it first in the private credit markets?
Two areas to look at are revolver draws and pick interest; these indications could show liquidity constraints among businesses.
Credit: canaries in the coal mine, or a healthy reality check (November 10, 2025)
Q: So what's your view on this? What red flags in the market would make you more cautious?
There are three categories to watch: a macro slowdown indicated by weaker earnings, liquidity squeeze shown by wider primary concessions, and funding stress reflected in the speeds of loans.
How a U.S. government shutdown hits the desk, and the outlook (October 6, 2025)
Q: So perhaps if you could explain what in the world is happening in Washington, that would be a great start for us today.
The U.S. government funding lapsed, triggering a government shutdown which may last days or possibly weeks, primarily due to a standoff regarding the renewal of subsidies for the Affordable Care Act.
Cut, pause, repeat: the impact of sporadic easing on the economy and markets (September 22, 2025)
Q: What would unlock the housing market?
It would need to be a combination of lower rates and lower prices.
